Ready for spring!

I'm so ready for spring and warmer weather! I spent yesterday getting a bath, hair cut, and my nails trimmed. (Not pawsonally my favorite way to spend Valentine's Day but I think I look pretty handsome) Now that I am all spruced up, I'm ready to actually enjoy a bit of time outside. I even got a new collar to go with my new look :)

Today will be in the 40's! Woo Hoo, that snow is finally melting away. It is supposed to get colder this weekend but we like to enjoy the nice days when we get them.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday. Aside from getting groomed, I did have a special chicken dinner ;)

OMG - Diary of the DAY!

Wow, these kind of things never happen to me. My sister Mia is the lucky one. I'm so excited to be diary of the day and the very best news of all is that I am FINALLY back to normal. I have a couple more days of medication but I am so happy to be feeling well. I hope I never have to stay at the hospital ever again, it was no fun.

Today is another super cold day, even at noon we are -2 degrees. My sister Mia doesn't care though, she's too excited about the football game today. She's a big Chicago Bears fan and loves Brian Urlacher. Anyway, since I was picked Diary of the Day she asked me to say "GO BEARS!".

Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to have my pic on the main page Dogster! I really appreciate it.

Feeling better

I'm feeling much better today and am eating with much enthusiasm. I just love that turkey and rice but unfortunately it isn't loving me back. Although I have my appetite back, I also have a very bad bout of diarrhea to go with it. Why can't it just ALL go away at once. Mom went back to the vet to pick up a new prescription and they have me on an antibiotic to help clean out my GI tract. They hope my new issue will be resolved within 24 hours of being on the antibiotics. Mom begged me to just let her know if I had to go and she'll RUN me out there. She doesn't want any midnight accidents :( I'll do my best mom.

Bloodwork results are in and aside from a decreased RBC count the rest of the values look fine. He will stay on fluids for the day but it looks like he'll be home this evening. The vet feels his intestinal issues probably made him feel under the weather thus not eating or drinking normally and then he felt worse so he did even less. A vicious cycle. He'll be on a bland diet for a few days and also a stomach acid reducer. This is great news, I can't wait to pick up my Teddy Bear.

Teddy is spending the day in the hospital and possibly overnight depending on the lab reports. He is dehydrated, pale, and has a slightly low temperature. He is getting bloodwork done, being put on an IV for fluids, and they are giving him medication to calm his stomach. We did get him to eat some breakfast but I could tell he still wasn't feeling well. I really hope the blood results are not bad and they have to keep him overnight. I felt terrible when they said he needed to stay. I'll update once they call with the lab results.

Going to see the Dogtor tomorrow

Mom is very worried and scheduled a 7:30AM appointment for me to see the dogtor tomorrow. Some might not worry but mom always says if Teddy, Dragon, or Chester don't eat, then there is a big pawblem. Well, tonight I not only didn't eat dinner but I also didn't even go into the kitchen while mom prepared dinner. She called me down to eat but I just walked away. After everyone else ate, we all went outside to potty. I went potty but I didn't even bark at the doggie on the other side of our fence and I love to bark at Riley. Mom immediately called to get me an appointment and I'm going in first thing in the morning. Pawlease keep good thoughts for me. Mom doesn't remember a single day since adopting me that I turned away from food.

I'm seven years old today!

Today is my official barkday and I just turned 7. It was a little over 5 years ago that my family got the call to come see me at the shelter and I am so happy they did. I now have the security of knowing I am in a family that will keep me and always love me. Besides being my birthday, my allergies are subsiding and I feel much better. I am off of the prednisone and just on Benadryl for the bad days. Life is good and getting back to normal. I can't wait to see what yummy treat I get tonight with dinner. I don't play with toys so my birthday is all about the treats! Yum!

One last cool thing about this birthday is that my paw rating finally went up to a 5!! Yay!!

Have a wonderful day pals and Happy Birthday to my twinkie bro Dizzy

Terrible times for Ted

Itchy once again. I know I sound like a broken record but late August through September are the worst times for my allergies. I'm back on Benadryl and will have to see the vet for something stronger soon. We always try to hold off for as long as possible. Arg, I can't stand being SO itchy!

One good thing recently is that I celebrated my 5th Gotcha Day with the family a couple days ago. I didn't get on to post but we did celebrate with a special dinner. Lucky pup I am! It's hard to believe 5 years have already passed.

Hope all is well with all my Dogster pals. I do apologize for not being on much, we all do. We think of you all the time though. Enjoy what is left of summer, fall is just about here.

Tomorrow is my birthday!

Finally, with all the recent birthdays around here, mine has arrived. Tomorrow I officially turn 6 years old. I share a birthday with my pal Dizzy, too. He will also be 6 tomorrow. Guess that makes him my brother from another mother. BOL Happy Birthday Dizzy!

My family knows that I don't really like toys so I am hoping I get a special dinner. They know that I LOVE food! My page is all decked out for Halloween, too. Didn't take the family long to realize in 2005 (my adoption year) that I had a sweet tooth. That October was the first time I tried to steal something (one of the jelly-like suckers). TeeHee, I was busted though. That is how I got the nickname Candy Man.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Hope all is well with everyone in Dogsterland.

Life's an Itch!

Literally! It is allergy season again and I was back at the vet. Mom gives me medicated baths and Benadryl but at this time of year the allergies are too severe and I need more. I'm now on Prednisone for a few weeks to help me get through the worst of the season. I have also been wearing a t-shirt to help prevent me from scratching and licking but I still managed to get a little sore from excessive licking. I even had to get another hair cut to help keep the skin as open as possible so that if I do lick, it will dry quicker and not hold in the moisture. I know the pawrents love me, but this time of year is just exhausting! I get way too much attention, BOL. Oh well, it can't last furever but just so you all know -
