Arrival Story:
Redgie was brought in to be PTS because he had a back injury and the owner didn't want to pay for medication to fix him up. The vet refused to euthanize him and talked the owner into surrendering him, instead. We took him in as a foster dog for Dachshund Rescue of Southern California. He was in horrible shape: badly dehydrated, obese, horrible coat, could barely walk without screaming. After crate rest and medication for his underactive thyroid, plus lots of time and love and care, he is now walking and running! We decided to keep Redgie because he is a wonderful dog who loves us almost as much as we love him. Seeing the joy on Redgie's face every day is a great blessing to me. He is a wonderful lap dog and companion, and he loves his Mommy and Daddy very, very much.

Bio:
In summer 2006, the vet removed a tangerine-sized tumor from Redgie's stomach. As soon as he was fully recovered, he injured a disc high up in his spine, leaving his front legs limp and unable to support him. It took him three months to heal from that injury, but Redgie's spirit is strong even if his body keeps breaking. He may be an old pig, but he's a good pig.
