Arrival Story:
I was a junior in college and was waiting to meet a man selling a used refrigerator (ours in our apartment was freezing milk and melting ice-cream). As I sat waiting for the man to show up, I looked through the rest of the classified adds and found an advertisement for English Setter puppies. I could tell by the phone number it must be near by to the 'used refrigerator' location. I ran to a pay phone (normal people didn't have cell phones back then, plus I was a starving college student) and asked for directions to see the puppies. As the man had still not arrived to show me the refrigerator, I used my hard earned refrigerator money to buy the most gorgeous puppy I had ever seen in my life! I didn't know how I was going to feed, care and play with her plus study and work but; in the moment, one of the most "potentially irresponsible" decisions of my life turned into the greatest 15 years+ long loves of my life. Don't let me fool you, she took much better care of me through the years than I did for her.

Bio:
When Lyzzi was 8 years old her back was injured in terrible accident. The accident left her without the use of her legs for several months. We were faced with some very difficult decisions, because of the nature of her injury she was not a good candidate for the wheel assisted dog mobility trolleys. Her natural instinct to chase birds and patrol the yard lead her to design her own form of physical therapy. We would swim in my father's pool to regain her range of motion and practice gradually increasing weight bearing time. Eventually, she taught herself to walk again (with a slight John Wayne swagger). Lyzzi was 8 when she had her accident and gave us 7 more generous love filled years.
