Arrival Story:
More info. can be found at mprgroup.net Lets see.... I remember hearing lots and lots and lots of cars... some were so close I could feel the air from them going by. THen I remember some really nice lady picking me up and putting me in her car (Wonder was wondering on a busy highway during morning rush hour, BLIND). The inside of the car was nice and warm, but I was soooo scared I had no clue what was going on or where we were going or what this lady was going to do to me! I remember hearing her make some phone calls, it sounded like she was sad and a bit frantic, then the next thing I know she is taking me out of the car and into a building. Inside the building a bunch of people were touching me and talking so sweet to me (vet office), rubbing there hands on me. I spent a couple weeks in a boarding facility where I met a lot of really nice people that kept telling me how nice I am. Now I am staying with my Foster parents, I have my very own room (crate) with lots of blankets and my water bowl is in there to, so I never have to go looking for it! At my foster home they are teaching me new words to help me get around... words like: step, carefull, eat, no and so on... I have learned alot so far and am told that I am really coming along.

Bio:
Wonder was found in the middle of I-70 during morning rush hour by a former Missouri Pit Bull Rescue volunteer. He was taken directly to the vet to get checked out and so that we could figure out if we had space for him in the program. Wonder is completely blind in both eyes and is going through heartworm treatments (almost done). Everyday he is coming more and more out of his shell. He is currently being taught how to be a blind dog, when he was found he didn't seem to know the slightest thing about how to function with his disability, as if he were on a chain or in a cage for his entire life. He is learning alot and is showing tons of improvment in his ability to get around without tripping over stuff and running into EVERYTHING. He gets along great with female dogs (when introduced properly) and doesn't seem to care about cats at all.

03/23/07 UPDATE!:
I MADE IT!!! I made it through my heartworm treatments!!! YAYAY!!! Boy oh boy life is GOOOOOOOOD!!! Although, I do have to say that ever since my last visit to the Vet I notice that I am a little lighter on my backside.... that's right... they took em'!!!!! That's ok though, I'd much rather have them gone and have a soft bed and a loving touch in my life then a stinky ill maintained yard and not enough to eat... That's right ladies, I am a taimed bull.... these days I enjoy sun bathing in the grass, hangin out with my foster sisters and sharing french fries late at night when my foster mom gets home from work.... AH the good life. So, now that I am looking good and feeling good I am searching now more than ever for my "forever Family" Someone that wants a well rounded guy, good inside and out. I have a new found love for Kongs thanks to my rescuer and sponsor... Thank you I love my Kong! So, for all of you out there looking for an easy going chap that gets along with cats and female dogs.... I'M YOUR' GUY!

I'M STILL LOOKING FOR MY FOREVER HOME!

January 4th 2008 11:59 am   [link to this entry]

Yes, it is true. I'm still in foster care awaiting a forever home... I have to say that I am quite confused. No one seems to want me... I think people feel that I am MORE disabled than I really am. Just because I am blind doesn't mean that I can't do anything or that I don't like to do anything! Come on... it doesn't take a pair of eyes to go walking or jogging. It doesn't take a pair of eyes to enjoy car rides and to feel the wind in your face... How many times do you close your eyes to enjoy the sounds or the feeling of things? Quite often I'm sure.... see, you don't need a pair of eyes to do things and enjoy them. Does anyone know what I mean? I love to do all kinds of things I just can't go fetch things, clearly I can not see where the object went... But that doesn't mean that I am unable to do other things.... Contact MPR and ask to meet me, I know pictures aren't much but I really shine when you meet me in person. I look forward to hearing from you.

An entry

So... I've been in my foster home for about 9 months now and boy does time fly! Haven't found that "one" just yet but I know that they are out there somewhere. I knew when I first got rescued and sent to my foster home things were going to be good, but HOLY COW! I never thought that it would be like this... I mean heck... I really do get fed every single day and I really do get a warm bed every single night! So, I LOVE this thing called jogging! Oh man does it get your blood pumpin and your heart going... What a rush, it is to have the breeze in your face and the road beneath your paws! Another think, my foster parents taught me how to climb in and out of both the truck and the car... now that I can get in there better I get to go more places... Mom says that I always seem so happy to get in but never to ride.. THAT'S NOT TRUE! I LOVE To ride... I love the way a moving car feels... It makes me so sleepy... hehehe. I still get a little scared though when I have to get a bath, but once I'm in there I start to calm down and enjoy it. Well, that's all for now... I'm going to park my rear on the couch now... BYE
