Arrival Story:
I wanted a Great Dane forever! I started a Great Dane fund so that I would be ready anytime. A friend of my sisters worked at a pet shop and had heard about my obsession. A coworker of hers was breeding Great Danes and she gave me the number. I saw Diesel for the first time when he was 12 days old. I spent a while with all the puppies and took a day to think about which one I wanted. I knew I wanted a merle. Diesel, although not the biggest in the litter was the Alpha dog in his litter (when he woke up he woke everyone else up and he wouldn't let any of the other dogs go down the stairs in front of him) I knew that he was the dog for me because I have a bit of the alpha dog personality in me as well. I went back and bought him the next day. I had to wait to actually bring him home. But I went to visit him everyweek and left a zebra blanket there so he would get used to my smell. Ever since, anything zebra that comes into my house he thinks is automatically his.

Bio:
His mother was a harlaquin and his dad was a 240lb black. He had two deaf danes in his litter. He has had his trials. He was about 10 months old and I was home after I had surgery and was still laid up, he was playing with my nephew and his friends in the front yard when the kids ran accross the street Diesel followed only to be hit by a Bronco which did not stop and actually sped up and drove off in fron of my eyes. Still medicated and no one else home I put Diesel in the car and drove him anyway to the vet. He had road rash, bruises and broken nails but other that that he was alright. Then when he was 2 years old and shortly after getting Menina another Great Dane jumped our fence into our yard and attacked Diesel, trying to kill him for the female. I was at work and it was my courageous neighbor who got in the middle of these two Great Danes and broke up the fight. Diesel was lucky. The wounds were deep and he had many stitches around his neck and face. They took a long time to heal but he is fine now without any visible scars.

I so love my mom. I let her do whatever she wants to me because it means that she is paying attention to me. I let her tie my ears in knots and play with my floppy cheeks. I let her lay on me and I won't move (even though I would prefer to lay on her). I'm so good about letting her cut my nails (because I know I'm going to get a treat afterward if I'm good). I know she loves me and was thankful when she got me Menina as a present. I make sure that everyone knows that I belong to my mom. When my grandparents or anyone tries to tell me what to do I ask my mom if I really have to do it before I oblige. I love to play with my mom and if any other dogs try to play with her they better be prepared to play with me also. I don't understand why she has to leave me sometimes but I'm so happy when she comes home. I can't wait to kiss her! I know she likes that.
