We thought we lost Rose this past Wed. I was at work and my
husband, Rob let Rose out to do her business (on a chain). As he walked
away from the door, he heard a horrible cry and came
running to see this big dog attacking Rose. He kicked the
dog a few times and he continued to come back and try
to bite Rose. Finally, after a good kick to the neck, he backed
off. My friend, Sheryl (she lives accross the street) heard the
crying too and came running. They brought Rose inside and
her injuries at first didn't look too bad. But after close observation,
both of them realized that she needed to go to the vet. They
called me, and I was home in 5 minutes (normally it takes 10)
and Sheryl and I took Rose to the emergency vet (it was 10pm).
We were told that she needed immediate surgery. There were
quite a bit of bites/wounds and a really bad one in her groin
area. They were afraid her abdomen might be damaged. We
left her at the vets and I called later in the morning to find out
her condition. She got through the surgery just fine, and
thankfully the abdomen wasn't damaged. I picked her up
at 730am, she was stiched up and tubes were place in her
little body. She looked so pitiful and doped up. She whimpered
a little but Rob and I got her home and watched her. She came
out of her stupor, with kisses and licks for both of us. She was
seen by our vet (Dr Liz) on Friday and we were told she'd be
OK as long as no infection set in. She's on 2 types of antibiotics
and pain meds! She's recovering and happy to see everyone
that visits her. She has kisses for everyone. She's not too happy
about the cone on her head. But its for her own good. Today, Sunday
we took her back to the emergency vet to have her tubes
removed. They all were genuinly concerned about her. She's
a loveable dog and she's so cute. She was kissing the vet as
she was removing the tubes. Rose always has slept with us,
and she's been sleeping pretty peacefully at night. The meds
are helping.
I thank God that Rob was able to save her, that Sheryl was here
to help me drive to the vets. I'm happy that God has heard all
our prayers and is giving Rose her life back. I can't lose her.
I love her very much and now she will NEVER be let out of
our sight.
Love, Mommy

Tuesday I went to my Obedience Class and to everyone's
amazement I did very well. I've been in this class now for
7 weeks, but I'm very distracted. I try to listen to mom
when she gives commands but sometimes its hard cuz
there's a dog on the other side of the room that wants my
attention too. Next Tuesday is my Graduation Day. WoW!
I'm so excited. If I get some pics taken, we'll post them.

My mommy took me for a ride in the car. I wasn't sure where we were going and I was a little scared. I didn't get sick, though. We went to the Vet, and she left me there. When I was picked up again, I was really groggy and couldn't keep my eyes open. The vet put her into mommy's arms and we went home. I tried to drink a little water, but it would not stay down. Sorry, mommy! Mommy took me to her bed and I tried to sleep but I know I was whimpering a little. She gave me a pain med and I went back to sleep for the night. I really love my new mommy. But I still think about my previous mommy. I know she must miss me. I hope she'll come visit sometiimes.
I feel so much better today. I know I'm not supposed to jump up/down off the couch. But I really feel better now.
