Favorite Walk:

Arrival Story:
When Attila was a year old, I got a little sister for him. My sister Tracey had a puppy due to her from a breeder in Florida with whom she co-owned one of her Peis. She sent us a little angel we named Samantha. We eventually just called her Sammie.

Sammie arrived when she was 8 weeks old. She was a fawn horsecoat meat-mouth Shar-pei with a perfect curly-Q tail. She had a spotted tongue (which was why the breeder let her go) and she had white toes, white patches on her chest, and a touch of white on her chin! She was darling! Attila loved her to bits. He doted on her as a true big brother. Unfortunately, Sammie succumbed to Shar-pei fever when she was only 4 months old. She was my first Pei heartbreak.

I'm Still Here

Mom, friends, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

WOW! This is so exciting for little me! I've never been tagged before!
Thanks Max!

(RULES: To play you have to be tagged by another dog first. When you get tagged, write the rules of the game in a new diary entry and add 7 facts about yourself and 7 facts about fureinds you want to tag. Make sure you send the doggies you tag either a rosette or pawmail to let them know they've been tagged. The most important part of this game is HAVING FUN. So put your thinking caps on, dive in and HAVE FUN!

I wasn't here very long before going to the Bridge, but my 7 facts are:

1. I love my big brother Attila
2. I love my mommy
3. I loved cuddling in bed (I used to sleep on mom's head)
4. I loved my stuff animal bear and my rope
5. I was loved and hugged alot!
6. I loved to play, especially tug of war with Til
7. I was a very happy girl

I am tagging...

1. Dex
2. Pistol Pete
3. Rexx
4. Junior
5. Buddy
6. Sky
7. Georgie

YEAAAAY! That was easy! And fun!

Thanks for thinking of me Max.

My Tail of Devotion for Sammie (1993-1994)

Sammie was the sweetest lovebug, a little angel who blessed our lives for too short a time.

When Sammie was about 3 months old, she broke her paw. We never figured out how it was broken, but she had a cast on it for a few weeks. She and Attila would do their best to remove it. I'll never forget the day I got home and found the cast on the couch, all chewed up. They knew they were busted!

Sammie was the happiest and most loving puppy. She loved cuddling in bed and would sleep on my head. I would find her on my pillow in the morning, wrapped around my head like a hat!

When Sammie was 4 months old, she became very lethargic. It came out of nowhere. She also started getting these horrible fevers. We had no idea what was causing them. Our vet had no idea either. These fevers would drain the energy and life out of her. It was so sad, we felt completely helpless. Attila stayed at her side and was clearly very concerned.

Eventually, Tracey thought she could help and told me she would take care of her for a while and nurse her through whatever this was. So I shipped poor little Sammie to Tracey. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever made, but I felt completely helpless. It was a decision I have regretted ever since...a few days after Sammie got to Tracey's, she passed away. I have never forgiven myself for sending her away. She should have been with me when it happened. I just hope she knew how much we loved her and that we did not send her away because we didn't want her.

Sammie, you will always be in my heart. Attila missed you terribly when you went away. I know he must have been so happy to see you at the Rainbow Bridge, and I know he is there doting on you still, taking care of you until I can pick you up and hold you in my arms.

I love you, baby girl.
