Arrival Story:
When our diabetic dog, Duffy, had a stroke and had to be put to sleep, my mom and I were totally lost! We asked our vet if she knew of anyone who had puppies, looking for homes. She directed us to another client who lived 45 miles away. My mom and I drove and drove to the rather remote location. My mom said, "This better be a darned good dog!" Sammy was the last puppy left and we both fell in love with him and he with us. Sammy turned out to be the Best dog anyone could ask for!
Bio:
Until he was 5 years old, Sammy had only lived with women. Amazingly, when Mark moved to PA from CA to marry me, he bonded with Mark almost immediately. Sammy would follow Mark everywhere around the house. Frequently, he would rest his front quarters in Mark's lap and, eventually, fall asleep.....while still Standing! These events came to be known as, "Sammy's stand-up slumber parties"! Our beloved Sammy went to the Rainbow Bridge on June 24, 2006 at the age of 12 years and 3 months. Mark was in the hospital, at that time, and the next day was his birthday! Needless to say, it was Not a happy birthday.
