a quick morning woof!

i know it's been awhile since i've taken a moment out of my busy pup life to update everyone. but, i'll be a year and a half in two days! woof!

and mam and i finally found the dog park near us. so, if i'm not thinkin' about dogster or nappin'-i'm there.

new addition to the house

it sure has been a while since i updated everyone on life as a handsome man in cleveland heights.

well, i've got big news in this update.
our house has a new puppy! woof!

one of mam's room mates got a long haired chihuahua a few days ago and i've been showing him the ropes of the good life ever since. his name is Basilio [Bas for short] and he's a red-chestnut color and only about 3 lbs. we'll have his dogster page up soon so keep an eye out for his handsome mug to be appearing all over this site. he's certainly a lady killer, and i'm really pumped to have the chance to help him grow up into a debonair pooch.

EVERYTHING

we got a yard, and a screen porch, and a couple mice running around to keep me on my toes. well, my dog toes at least. i was so sad yesterday when mam and i walked into the dining room to find one of the mice had died right in the middle of the floor. it was gross to ma', but i was nuzzling the poor fella trying to wake him up to play. mam and i buried him out by the garage so he could have a proper send off to the rainbow bridge. maybe mice go there? i dunno, i hope so though cause they are SO fun to chase around.

i'd sit here and write more but what's the point?! the weather's beautiful and i got lots more to sniff out in the new digs. i'll catch up with all you pups soon! woof!

happy poopday to me

i'm a whole year old today!

ma says i already look older and wiser. and thank you to gibbon who sent me a coolest tree i've ever seen as a birthday rosette. it makes me want to pee on it.
also a big thanks to lucy mae, furio, and peanut for the rosettes and stars i've gotten before! dummy me forgot to say thanks when i got them, so thank you now! WOOF!

so now mam is taking me to the petstore to pick out any toys i want. i'm pretty excited. plus mam called in to the Mutt Hut in Tremont today to make an appointment for me to go play with all the other dogs. she made it the day we move out of here, so i be so sad about leaving here. this is the only home i've ever known! but, ma' says there's plenty of new smells at the new apartment. AND her brother, Uncle Buck is moving in with us too! how excited to finally have a yard and another boy around the house.

well, i've gotta go get some toys. so every have a great day and thanks for all the birthday wishes!!

summer in the city

first, my birthday is tomorrow. mam is hiding presents from me until tomorrow night when we celebrate.

but this week when ma' wasn't working, she and i went out on a boat. i was pretty scared, but i got used to it after a while and watched mam go tubing and everything. the boat went so fast and i was really sad mam forgot her camera at home cause i was really cheesing it up.
we were really sad to find out when we got home that one of our really good friends was in a terrible accident in Put-In-Bay. his name is tim and ma' and i are friends with him and his 230lb english mastiff, romeo. we play over there sometimes and mam has helped out with romeo when tim's out of town a few times. well, he was in a mo-ped accident up on the lake, and was life flighted to Toledo hospital. apparently, he cracked his skull open because he wasn't wearing a helmet, hit something and flipped over the handlebars, and he was going around 35 mph. it's so sad to hear this, mam was really upset and worried about him all day. the police told some of the guys to not be surprised if tim didn't survive the wreck. we were still keeping our hopes up and trying to find out as much as we could.
the news right now is that he's going make it. no one is sure what the extent of the damage is or when tim is going to wake up, but we're all praying for him around here. and when we find out how he's going to be i think everyone will decide what is best for romeo as well. if he is seriously altered because of this, we're praying romeo won't need to go back into rescue. but most importantly mam and i are praying that tim makes a full, healthy recovery and that he and his family are okay.

welp, she finally did it...

mam did it. she cut my coat into a mohawk. it's pretty rock and roll. we'll be posting pictures soon.

so, about the new picture.

as you can tell from my new photo added today, i've been a very mischievous little boy. i decided to celebrate the beginning of the last week of classes for mam by waking her up this friday to total destruction. i decided, "i've really had enough of these window treatments" and just had at the blinds while ma' lay soundly sleeping beside me. then, i jumped down from the bed and sniffed my way into mam's open purse in our tv room. even though it was sitting all the way up on the minifridge, i still managed to monster my way into the bag. there i found the coolest thing i ever chewed- a battery.
well, it was cool, that is until i got it open. all the sudden there was this gross taste all over my mouth. i decided i'd had enough of that. and i moved on to mam's favorite beaded shirt.
so. she caught me about halfway through the shirt and put me in my cage. i wish i wouldn't have chewed so many of the blinds! cause mam cleaned those up first and didn't even notice the battery until after my nap. needless to say, my mouth was hurting pretty bad when i woke up. so, i moped around until ma' saw the punctured battery laying on the floor by my cage.
she started looking online for poison control stuff about battery fluid, and she and brad decided the best thing to do was call the vet and give me some milk. i love milk. it's perfect in every way and it made my mouth feel so much better. i finally let brad and ma' have a look at the damage done.
when we finally got a hold of West Park Emergency Animal Clinic (many thanks!) brad said my mouth was looking pretty bad. mam was so worried that we went to the vet right away and left brad there to hold our pizza order until we got back. and after all the shots and medicines, i felt a little poopy. i was in a pretty fowl mood when mam snapped this picture.
they shaved a little bit of my fur and gave me this patch on my skin that helps my mouth and tongue not hurt anymore. and because i'm such a monster i had to get coned up, otherwise i'd tear off the patch and eat it. obviously i'm not too excited about this big cone on my head. i can't see nothing! and now that i'm feeling a little better and walking around more, i just run into everything and mam laughs at me.
she says i'm being such a good guy about having to wear this silly thing. i went on a walk today and everything! and i'll be able to take if off on monday. and i love getting spoiled with all the hugs, snuggles, and treats from all my visitors stopping in. but i'm getting pretty sleppy from all this commotion, so i've got to go catch up on some much needed rest.

growing up fast.

it seems like it was just yesterday when ma' brought me to live with her. time is going by so fast and i can't believe i'm almost a whole year old soon! for my birthday, mam says she's gonna take me to the MuttHutt in Tremont so i can play with other dogs who love to wrestle just like me. such a cool early birthday present. ma's birthday is a couple days before mine, so i think i'm gonna get her something real sweet. maybe a big soggy piece of my bone will do? i hope, cause it's pretty much all i've been saving around here for the past week. mam says it stinks, but i say it don't. i've hidden it and all that remains is the smell. just a somber reminder to me ma' of what she has to look forward to in the years to come.
it's getting late and my little paws need a break. g'night all!

little puppy tears.

mam and i were so shocked to see the news this morning and as it progressed into this afternoon. the shootings at Virginia Tech and the reactions of people across the country. while my little puppy heart cries for those who saw and must live with the effects of the tragedy today, my little puppy brain tells me that there's much that can be learned. gun rights activists claim that the deaths today could have been prevented had the conceal & carry laws been passed in Virginia. hmm, seems to be a little outrageous, even to a 10 month old puppy like me!
mam and i think that if this country made owning or purchasing a gun as hard as applying for a student loan, or finding a college scholarship-maybe 33 more people would be alive today. with more money in our nation's public schools, people would have the opportunity to utilize university health insurance to get psychiatric help when they needed it, or perhaps people would be educated to the point that they felt they had reasons to live-instead of reasons to kill.
today will no doubt be known historically as the Massacre at Virginia Tech. but let it also be known to our forever families as the day a nation of humans cried out "enough is enough", and a day that a nation of pups like me got to lick away a few tears and, i'm sure, helped to sooth the hearts of so many whom were saddened by the devastation in Virginia today.

finally giving in to training classes.

well, we've had a very long annoying past couple of weeks. mam and i were SO excited cause the weather starting getting nice around here. so we went on like a hundred walks a day, and spent a bazillion hours playing in cain park and in friends backyards. it. was. awesome.
then, we take a little car ride to columbus for the night, and come back to cleveland today. and all the sudden, everything was covered in snow again! i hate that stuff. it makes my paws sore and sting, and there's like 8 inches of it on the ground! sheesh. i felt like ma' was being mean to me by not walking me very long when we got back here, so i got mad and peed all over her bed. mam was none too pleased with me. this is my first accident in the house since i've learned to walk to the door.
she's starting to think my attitude needs a little adjustment. so, we're looking at puppy training classes. but i'm already 10 months old! is it too late for me to learn anything in them? or am i just some kinda jerk? who knows.

another thing. mam and i were watching some crappy show on TV tonight and this crazy lady named her dog Cash. but her dog was named after money, and i was named after Johnny Cash. but on TV it all sounds the same. i kept getting confused cause i thought the TV was talking to me! it was weird.
