Arrival Story: I found Mollie at our local shelter on October 28th, 2006.
She was 1 year old and in heat and the craziest dog I've ever met. We were really careful to get her through her heat and she was spayed on February 12th, 2007.
October 28th, 2009: In the 3 years that Mollie has been with us, her and I have developed an incredible bond. At four years old, she's still the craziest dog I've ever known and most of my friends agree. She's exuberant... but she's definitely my girl and always will be.
Bio: Well it's bout time she let's me bark. I still member the day she came in ta the shelter. I kept staring at er, giving her my sad eyes. She calls it my "Sad Sack" look but I don't care cuz it worked. She fell fur it hook, line & sinker, snort, snort. She thought I was this poor, abused dawg and fell in luvvv.
Once I got ta my new home, I knewed I was in the clear. I hear er tellin my new hooman bro, Drew that it was a lifetime commitment. Course, my new poppa thought I was on some week long trial. As if she could a ever given me up - BOL!!! She was already spending lotsa money on me. Next thing ya know, she had im out buying me a crate that was big enough for me cuz even he didn't want me sleeping in one that was too small.
Yeah, that seems like a life time ago. I do ave it made ere tho an I sure do luv my momma and I know she luvs me so, I think I'll stay.
Forums Motto:
Well my account a this visit is comin from one tired pup, let me tell ya.
An momma...well she says sometimes furst impawressions can be completely wrong an this was a good example.
It was less than a 2 km walk each way an we walked almost at poppa's full pace....at least momma was laggin bahind, whinin bout him walkin too fast fur her.
We got there an a woman, who we later learned was the wife owner called Linda, came out ta greet us. She tried ta get me ta give er lovin but I could sniff all those dawgs on the udder side a the fence an I jus wanted ta get in there. Momma got my papers from poppa an gave em to her an she asked a few questions bout me. She did think my skin tag was a tick. Funny how different peeps think it's different things. Auntie Susan thought it was a teet, snort, snort.
Anyway, once she was assured, I didn't have a tick or anythin else that could be contagious, I was allowed in an Oh My Dawg!!! It was jus amazin. Pawt of it, when we furst came in was hard stuff that momma called concrete. But the there was a grassy/mucky area as well.
They had some agility stuff there. Momma tried ta get me ta jump over some wood thing. It made absolutely no sense ta me, what-so-ever when I could walk right round it. An that's exactly what I did each time....walked round it. Eventually she gave up.
Then there was this really pawsome barn that we were allowed ta go inta anytime we wanted ta. It had rooms wif doggy doors but none of us really wanted ta go to im. The big room was fur dawg's staying there. An a room next door fur the peeps ta sleep in ta keep an ear open fur em.
An it had an upstairs wif stairs an ramps that ya could go up an down an ya could go up in one area an come down an a totally different area.
We stayed an played fur over an hour an a half. While we were there, my furiend Jazmine showed up wif onna her moms, Meredith an her furless bro Cohen. Cohen's still a youngin an he was purdy board. Jazmine also had a new fur-bro...a new Golden named Harvey. He still has a lot ta learn but he was doin purdy good. We was playin a bit on the ramp an havin some fun tagether while they was there.
I even met a young German Shorthaired Pointer named Daisy...but they call her 'Crazy Daisy' and my Dawg....she could dance circles round me. When her pawrents picked her up, they took er ta the back field fur a run. That's where dawgs can go, once they learn NOT ta run away from their pawrents....hmmmm ;)
In the end...momma was very, very impawressed. I heard my pawrents say how it's so worth it ta get a membership cuz I was smilin the whole time. I stayed close ta my pawrents fur the most pawt, tho i did run round a lot an have fun wif lotsa udder dawgs.
The time has finally come fur me ta be able ta get ta the dawg pawks. And yep I said pawks. There are two of em an bofe are privately owned.
Momma's been in such a dilemma cuz the ole one that we'd have ta drive to on the Kingsway has been taken over by new peeps. But...she talked ta them on the phone an they're really nice, not ta mention seem ta be a lot more relaxed an have what momma would call more common sense.
We really didn't need an appointment ta have my temperamental test an it was a nice sunny afternoon yesterday. An...bein Friday, poppa finishes work earlier. So....momma gave the one on Kingsway a call ta see what their afternoon was like. The guy tole er it was a pawfect time ta bring me in as they had a few hyper ones then. Course it took us bout anudder half hour ta get poppa out the door an since we need im ta drive his car, we had ta wait.
When we got there, momma went in furst ta find out what we should do. It was a bit of chaos goin on at furst an me an poppa were waitin on the outside...not knowin what was goin on. An I was soooooo excited. I just wanted ta get in!!!
Finally we got inside an poppa got my leash off. Poor poppa had never been ta a dawg pawk befur. Momma had only been ta one herself when I gots ta go wif Spikey an since then she's learned a LOT more bout dawg pawk etiquette so we'd be purpared. But she didn't share it wif poppa ahead a time. Still....he did purdy good, I'd bark.
I don't know what my test was s'posed ta be exactly. All I knows is that I gots ta run round wif some udder dogs fur a while wif NO leash... an I was havin lotsa fun!!!
I even came back a few times when my pawrents called me. Momma was so happy that my callback is gettin better.
Mosta the udder dawgs were males an onna them kept tryin ta hump me. Well...the joke was on him, snort, snort. I don't get humped!! It was a game of catch me if you can an anypup that knows me, knows jus how fast I can be when I don't wanna be caught, snort, snort.
Then there was Dexter, the GSD. I don't know what it was that made his hackles go up but next thing I know I gots humper behind me an Dexter, wif is hackles up, barkin away in front a me.
An me???? I jus carried on havin fun, ignorin the two of em, snort, snort.
I think I passed the test there cuz the peeps seemed ta like me lots.
Momma said in a little while we're goin fur a walk ta check out the one closer ta home. We have a pointment fur 11:00 this mornin. It's bout a 2 km walk each way. Poppa's comin along, of course. I hope I like it as much as the udder one cuz it would be so cool wif it bein so close ta home but momma said the peep she talked to wasn't the brightest bulb on the tree. I don't what tree she means....unless she's talkin bout those howloween lights outside that haven't come down yet.
Oooohhh..... I hope I get ta run round an play wif udder dawgs like I did at the udder place. Somehow I jus think it's gonna be a bit different.
Momma says Salhaim is believed to be the time of the year when the veil between the worlds is thin an there's a special magic in the air. This is the time when the livin can best bark wif their ancestors who are no longer in the living world.
That sounds purdy pawsome ta me. I mean jus maybe I can bark wif my angel fur-bro Popeye!! He's a legend in our fambly. He purdy much raised my furless bro's.
Momma's always believed in the spiritual world an this time a the year is kinda special fur her so she's been kinda busy cleanin the house an stuff.
She's not been furgettin bout me tho. I've been gettin out fur my walks between her, poppa an Drew an taday I had my pointment wif Dr. Simmons ta make sure I was healthy enuff an my shots were updated so I could go ta the dawg pawk. I like Dr. Simmons...I could jus smell that he liked dawgs an he don't give momma no bark bout my diet. An momma trusts him cuz he comes from a family of vets.
An oh yeah...since my last visit in the end a May 08, I gained a whoppin 5 pounds. Yep....I was 60.2 pounds taday an NO....I was NOT carryin my backpack, snort, snort.
Dr. Simmons said I looked really healthy. He also tole momma the rabies shot I had last year was good fur 3 years so I didn't have ta have that one – yay!!!!
Afterwards we gots ta visit wif Susan at All Creatures but momma made me put on my Moon Doggess Costume befur we went in. Of course Susan thought I looked adorable and gave me a special Howloween cookie. An momma bought me a bully stick....a big, long one....yummy!!!
So that's all the news that is news on the Mollie front.
I'm purdy tired tonite. It mighta been the long day I had or I might be feelin those nasty vacs...but I think it's time fur some zzzzzzzzzz
