Quick Bio:
-mutt-pound dog

Likes:
She LOVES being with people, chasing other dogs, treats, chasing her tail. She is one of the happiest dogs I have ever known. If you look at her she is overcome with wiggles of happiness, and will throw herself at your feet until you rub her belly.

Pet-Peeves:
Loud noises, aggression, Pucker trying to steal her toys, shots at the vet

Favorite Toy:
anything that she can rip apart and eat

Favorite Food:
treats, especially wet cat food.

Favorite Walk:
She would rather run than walk anywhere. Even on leash she will run to the end then run back, then run to the end again.

Best Tricks:
touch and sit and tippytoes and down and stay and leave it

Arrival Story:
I used to volunteer regularly at the Oakland Animal Shelter. I had a system for walking the dogs where I would start at one end and just make it as far down the row as I could. She should have been the last dog walked but she wiggled at me and made me take her first. She stared up at me with her beautiful almond eyes then rolled over and wiggled some more. I resisted adopting her for about two weeks but then I gave up. I couldn't very well let her spend her puppyhood in a kennel, could I?

Bio:
Lolita is part pit bull and part whippet. When I first heard of this combination I just assumed that she was the result of an accidental breeding. I've since learned that it's a quite common mix. Apparently people try that mix thinking that it will produce faster and lighter fighting dogs. The last laugh is on them though. So many of these dogs end up in shelters like my little Lo because they have such sweet temperaments that they won't fight at all.

Happy, happy, happy!! Someone is coming! I can hear them on the stairs! I bet it’s my favorite person in the whole world! I wonder who it is? It smells like maybe someone I know, or someone I don’t know. A knock! That’s it, they are coming in. Better get ready to be cute, better warm up the butt muscles. Better stop hitting myself in the face. I wouldn’t want them to not know how happy we are that they are here. Maybe if I turn in circles they will come inside faster. Come on mamma! Open the door. They might leave if you don't hurry up. Open the door! Stop pushing me away I HAVE to see who it is. The mailman!! I knew it! My favorite person in the world. See how much I love you. Tummy rubs! Oh please. More tummy rubs. I don't know if I can live unless you rub my tummy right NOW!

I got in trouble today. It's silly, really. Just another case of mamma overreacting. Instead of putting my normal food in the bowl like she's supposed to she hid all different kinds of food in these plastic bags and hid those in this paper bag and hid that in this cupboard. And then to make the game even more fun she closed the cupboard door. Well, my nose is so good I sniffed it out right away and when she left the house for a few minutes I found it and ate it all really quick. Then I went back to bed. Well, you should have seen her. She came in the house and about two seconds later she stormed into the room all mad and glarey. I tried to look real innocent so that she would blame big bro but apparently the fact that he was leashed at the time kind of gave me away. I think that if she doesn't want me to eat food she ought not put it where I can find it. Is it my fault that I can open cupboard doors?

Bunny Dreams

I had the strangest dream last night. There was this rabbit running through the room so I chased it because that's my job. Then it got so high up the tree that I couldn't climb so I growled and barked to keep it there. Then it started chewing on my kong. Well that wasn't ok so I chewed down the tree (it's only a big stick after all) and chased the rabbit away. Finally, I was able to eat my kong in peace. The rest of the night was pretty quiet. I don't know what to do about these dreams, they've been getting really realistic lately. I have a vague suspicion that mamma must know what I'm dreaming because everytime I wake up she is laughing at me.
