Best Tricks:
too old to have tricks--doesnt find it kool anymore

Arrival Story:
we were driving on a mountain road & found her abondoned ON PURPOSE in middle of the road after just having had pups- she was VERY THIN & STARVED. so we took her in the car & went to store to IMMEDIATELY get her dog treats- she liked them. we got vet care, & they said "she's 11 months old & just had pups."--that was sad, because we never found any pups on that road! in fact, when someone abondoned her in the road, they PURPOSELY left food there as BAIT so she'd be EATING IT & be too busy to notice that the car she was in just drove off!!! also, it was winter-- if we hadnt taken her, she wouldve froze in that mountain environment! because she KNEW she was left on that road, she got an EMOTIONAL STIGMA about being on that road anymore (she was VISIBLY SHAKEN by it)--we noticed it when we went on that road again later & drove in the SAME SPOT where she was left--POOR DOG!!--it happened EVERY TIME we drove on that road, on ALL OTHER MOUNTAIN ROADS she was happy & vibrant!!! when we found her, she was wearing a collar- it had been there SO LONG that it left a MARK on her when we took it off--it took awhile for the mark to leave--it didnt hurt the skin, just left an odd "bleaching" of her fur there like the sun hadnt been able to reach that area for a long time! it was EVIDENT those people left her outside & alone ALL THE TIME, because we had to "teach" her what it was to "sit by her person", "play with toys", & "eat treats & canned dog food", like she'd never had that experience before (it wasnt because she wasnt used to us yet, she took to us RIGHT AWAY, happy, wagging her tail, licking us, etc.)!! sad!!

she's so old & arthritic (& is on pills for arthritis) that she doesnt like to do ANYTHING- she just sits there...she'll make a SMALL attempt to chase the cat & play with her, but that's rare. she likes watching the cat who catches mice & plays with them in front of her. she is CAT-FRIENDLY & shares her water bowl with the cat. she walks SLOW now. when she's brought in from a poddy, she'll usually just WAITS on the carpet--waiting for her person to "push her gently into walking over to have her leash taken off" (this has to be done several times). during the day, she lays up against her person & naps alot- she's ALWAYS by her person getting a rub! now that she's 16, she doesnt care anymore about the games she used to do, like: getting snowballs tossed into her face, chewing out the faces of stuffed toys, running fast after bathing, running fast after getting nails clipped, chewing up the toys she saw the cat play with. she used to hate when someone used tape on something-she'd cower-but now, she doesnt care! she used to cower at the sound of a plastic trash bag being opened..but now, she doesnt care! she's easily intimidated by BIG DOGS that want to sniff her, but she LOVES the small ones & has a small dog friend in our building named "buster". sometimes her person has to "push her gently up the stairs and/or encourage with words to walk" to take her out to poddy because sometimes her legs just give out & she even slowly slides down the steps as if she's given up on walking the distance! her eating habits- she will get a FEW table scraps & really LIKES getting a small portion of soda pop-all flavors of soda are good (NOT DIET THOUGH!!). she loves cat food, & dog food treats! she's in GOOD HEALTH, except for the arthitis which she's on pills for. she is really INTIMDATED by crowds of people & puts her tail between her legs & lowers her body to the ground & pulls on the leash trying to leave! she's real loving though, & never mean-even to the cat! when we had a car & would drive through a tunnel on a mountain trip, she got a FUNNY LOOK on her face--something about "tunnels"--when we exited the tunnel she was ok again! Footnote : She passed to rainbow bridge 12-13-07 (see you later Shirley!).

Person taught me what "scoot" meant so that I'd know to scoot over when needed. I got sneaky and used it in reverse - when I wanted them to "scoot" so I could have a certain spot I did it and they'd scoot so it worked! HA!

Uh oh, guess what happened? I died on 12-13-07. I was throwing up blood and couldn't walk no more so my person took me to the E.R. vet at night and did it. Glad the pain has stopped though, sure was rough for a few days. Seems I had cancer that probably had spread all through me and couldn't be stopped.

My family kitty Cleo KNEW it was coming though, she kept hanging around my person for 3 days prior to it and 3 days afterwards before she was OK again....seems Cleo was worried and upset poor thing.
