Spring time, Chasing things time!

Its springtime. Flowers are in bloom (pollen makes me sneeze!), birds are chirping, and the grass is green enough for me to pee on. My favorite thing about spring time is all the baby squirrels. They're coming down from the trees, and haven't learned that I'm bigger than they are. They just look so fun to play with! Plus, the weather is nice, so mami and I have been going on nice long walks. Walks to the park, walks around the neighborhood, and best of all, CAR RIDES with the window down! Springtime is the best.

I'm not bad, I'm misunderstood!

It's the holidays, and that means mami and daddy have to work extra long hours. Now that it's late December, I'm home alone alot more than I'm used to. Sometimes I get bored, and sometimes I just want more attention, so I go exploring the house. I check out the trashcan, I check out the recycling, I jump on the tables, and look at what's on the counters. Hey, if I could clean up after myself I would, but I'd need opposable thumbs now, wouldn't I? I think that for now, until the holidays are over, any attention is good attention, even if it's bad attention. At least every day I get 3 long walks, and I get to snuggle up with my parents at night. January should be here in no time.

The Dog Days of Summer

Hi dog friends! It's summer here in Texas, which means the mercury is rising and the sidewalk is so hot it makes my paws SIZZLE! But today is a lovely day, with a nice breeze and everything. So my mom is taking me to the dog park later. I really miss the weather in St. Louis, because by now it would be nice weather, and fall would be a full 3 months long, and winter would be cold, but I could run around outside really fast and wouldn't even notice after a while. But here, it's so hot, my little legs can't even hold me up, and no matter how much energy I had at the beginning of the day, my paws will not go any faster. I hope the weather isn't making you pant!

It's been a while, and a very exciting summer. Me and my mami moved into a new place. It doesn't have a yard, but that's okay, because it means I get lots of walks and get to go to the dog park. Yay! Mami just got back in from out of town, and that made me very happy to have her back. There is a little dog, Roxy, that I'm friends with here, she's sweet. I'm trying to be a good boy, and to get used to the new place. More updates later.....woof!

Got On My Listening Ears

Yes, I finished my obedience classes. Not only was it a good way for me and my mommy to spend time together, but it was also good to know what she was always yelling at me for. Now I know what she wants me to do, and I feel alot less confused. All in all, I'm a happy pup!
We got new neighbors next door, and they have two dogs, a small hound mix like me, and a big Great Dane. I haven't met them yet, but I have smelled them through the fence. I think a formal introduction is in order!

A good dog at heart.

I have been going to obedience classes for three whole weeks now, and under my bad dog exterior, I really am a good dog at heart! Sure, I was always a sweet boy, and a calm dog, but I am also very stubborn. Why do what your humans tell you to do? Why not do your own thing? Well, I learned why. Doing what your humans want gets you PRAISE, not to mention lots of meaty treats. So I figured out what my mom wanted me to do when she said "sit" and "stay" and it's worked wonders. I'm still confused about why she doesn't want me to approach other dogs. I'm friendly, why shouldn't other dogs be? Even though I learned the hard way a couple of years ago when I was attacked by two mean dogs next door, I'm still sweet and friendly to strangers. One day soon, we're going to work on resisting the urge to bark. That will be hard!

A Hound Dog's Tail

My name is Buddy, short for Downtown Buddy Brown. I'm a hound dog, and will probably always be a stray at heart. I was a stray for the first year of my life, and even though I've had a loving home for 2 years now, I can't seem to stop some of my old habits! No matter what my mom feeds me, I still have to scrounge. And, I can't resist the urge to bark. I miss the days when I used to be able to run around outside, free, all day long, barking at whatever I wanted to. Now, I am a dog that likes to bark. Sometimes, my mom says I get a "bark build up." It's like I can't control the barks, and they just come out of my mouth if it's the slightest bit open. My mom thinks it's cute sometimes. Neighbors do not. And so, mom started looking for obedience classes for me. This will be my diary of what I think of obedience classes. Stay tuned!
