Hmph!

My mom had the audacity to bring a 6 month old puppy into the house, a Chihuahua puppy no less. How could she do this to me???? I feel betrayed and hurt :(. Mom told me it's just until Saturday, we're only keeping her until she can be taken to my Nana's house. She also has explained that this puppy was a rescue, her parents were found on the streets and her mamma was preggers when she was found so really we're doing a good thing by helping get this little thing adopted. I DON"T CARE, this little thing has dominated my mom's time and she actually growled at me and my dad yesterday (the puppy not mom), excuse me?! People she took one of my toys and was playing with it, the horror!

To top it all off, Lexie doesn't care, she's not the least bit put out by her, I was hoping for a little solidarity here but no, for the first time in her life she's not acting like a Diva.

So for the time being I'm ignoring mom, except to give her my sad, hurt, puppy dog eyes, yep Dad is my guy this week.

Just Call Me Bubble Gum Head

I was digging in the little garbage can in the front room and lo and behold I found gum, the good stuff too, Super Bubble, mom's favorite. Well I got it on my cheek and on my chest oh and let's not forget the carpet. Then I went out into the back yard and rolled in the leaves so I had reddish colored leaves stuck to my face too. Now here's when the real fun (??) started. When mom got home, she of course petted me and gave me kisses as she always does when she felt something hard on my cheek, that's when she saw the red leaves and thought it was dried blood. Well I take off to greet dad and mom is screaming at him to check my cheek, dad mistook one of my doggy beauty marks for a wound and told mom that I had a hole in my cheek. Now they're both running around like crazy because the vet closes in 15 minutes and we have to hurry. About that time the leaf fell off and when mom took a closer look she smelled the gum. About that time she found the wad in the carpet. It's amazing how fast moms can go from concerened to annoyed. She cut the gum from my chest but the stuff on my cheek will have to come off on it's own, not enough hair to cut.

Boy that was fun!

It's white, cold and fun - It's Snow!!!!

I live in the Gulf Coast of Texas so we don't usually get snow, in fact I've never seen it before. But Wednesday night it snowed, alot, dad said 3 inches worth. At first I wasn't sure I wanted anything to do with it but then I got out and started playing and it was awesome. I ran and ran and ran all over the front yard. Then came in and layed down by the fire to get warm. Mom and Dad were excited too, they kept taking pictures of it and Dad made snowballs for throwing.

Lexie wasn't interested and neither was Thomas but I had so much fun, I can't wait for it to happen again.

Thomas the Cat

As you may have seen on Lexie's diary my folks brought a new new cat home, his name is Thomas, or as mom calls him; Tommy. I got one thing to say to "Tommy", step away from the mom. Now I've been more than patient waiting on mom to give him back to where ever she got him from but I'm beginning to think he's here for good, oh the horror. At first I thought he was okay, he likes to snuggle with me and I don't mind that but he is toooooo attached to my mom, there I've said it. As I've stated on this forum before, that is my mom, I barely like sharing her with Lexie and this is just too much to bare. He likes to butt heads with her and lay near her and he play with her. He's pretty loud too especially when it's time to eat, so mom feeds him first so that we don't have to hear the drama. Did I mention he's taken over my loofah dog, and can you believe my folks encourage this behaviour by playing with him and it. He waltzed in the door, made himself at home and now he plays with my green dog. I don't like it, period.

Stuff

Okay lots of stuff has been going on lately.....

First, my mom went on a diet and exercises a lot so now she walks me and Lexie several times a week. At first I had to rest a couple of times during the walk but not anymore now we run the entire time we're gone. I've met a lot of nice new people, lost weight and have more energy.

Secondly, our cat passed away; everyone was very sad about it, mom and dad cried alot. They got her creamated and put her on the shelf next to Oreo so she can always be close to us. I heard them talking the other day about bringing home a new cat that showed up at my Nana's house, not sure how I feel about that, we'll see.

Thirdly, I met a new member of our family last night. His name is Jordan and he's 2 months old, I've never seen anything that small before. He and his sister Mia came to our house last night, I really like Mia, she's a little person too but she's big enought to pet and play with me. As they left Jordan's mom told him he needed a bath because he smelled bad, I don't understand, I thought he smelled pretty good.

Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Yesterday we went to a campground to pick up daddy. Mom was camping with Dad but on Saturday she didn't feel good, it was 102 outside, and she came home early. At about 7am on Sunday she woke us up and said it was time to go. Go Where???? To the DoubleLake Recreation Park to pick up dad. Weeeeee!!! When we got there Dad was making breakfast, bacon, eggs and fried potatoes. He made extra of course so we could join in and everyone had breakfast together. Then we ran all over the campsite peeing on bushes and chasing bugs and Lexie (of course) barked at the people next door, (don't tell her I said this but she not always very nice). After that mom and dad took us for a walk, unfortunately Lexie isn't good on the leash so they usually take us separately. I got to go where there are a lot of people and kids to visit and because Lexie doesn't like to meet strangers mom took her where there wouldn't be many people. After a few hours it was time to leave so dad lifted me up into the backseat where mom had put pillows, Lexie says the only reason the pillows were there was because they wouldn't fit anywhere else but I know mom put them there because she loves us and wanted us to be comfy. We slept all the way home and when we got home mom gave us each a fold over peanutbutter sandwich, and yes Lexie I know mom snuck an asprin in the bread but it was still a nice snack, and besides because mom thought ahead my back leg wasn't sore when I woke up from my nap in the afternoon. Overall it was a great day!!!

The Puppy

My mom brought home a puppy she found at Nana's house this weekend. She said he was walking down a country road, he was limping, skinny and scared. She says we're just fostering him until he finds a permanent home.

Now I know I had a foster mom and so did Lexie, they were great and we still see them from time to time. But my mom is MY mom (okay mine and Lexie's) and is not to be shared with anybody. And of course he's adorable, why wouldn't he be, he's only 3 months old.

I can't wait till he finds his own family and I can have mom to myself again.

Sadly,
Wade

I'm Free!!

Finally I'm free and finished with my heart worm "quiet" time.

I went to the vet on Saturday and got my last shot (for the babies worms) and he said I had to be quiet for 24 hours and once that was finished I could be a dog again.

Sunday my folks worked in the backyard getting it in shape for the spring. I spent all day in the sun barking at the neighbors and playing with my sister. Mom played hurl a squrl with me, man was I glad to see that squrl.

Thanks for all your thoughts and wishes for my recovery. My mom really appreciated it, she was so scared for me. She didn't want me in a crate because it freaked me out so she took me to work with her everyday for 3 weeks. That way she could watch me and make sure I stayed quiet. It was a lot of fun because I got mom all to myself for a change. We walked around the building 3 times a day, she shared her lunch with me every afternoon and I met some neat people. She says now that I'm better she'll bring me back on a pretty day so we can go to the dog park down the street. We live 30 miles away from mom's office so I haven't gotten to go to this park before, I can't wait.

See ya!!

The Saga Continues

This Wade's Mom: I dropped Wade off at the vet's office yesterday morning for his heartworm treatment. When I called in the afternoon they said he was doing fine. It broke my heart to have to leave him but the staff there just adore him so I know he's getting lots of love and cuddles. I should be able to pick him up on my way home from work tonight. I know Lexie really missed him last night and couldn't understand why he left with me but didn't come home with me. She cried and cried and searched all over for him.

The good news is my boss will let him come to work with me while he's in the "quiet" stage. He won't be able to come every single day but he'll be here a lot.

Thanks for all your well wishes and blessings.

Bad day at the Vet

Mom took me to the vet on Saturday, for a couple of reasons. First off I didn't feel well. But also because Mom was afraid she missed giving me a heartguard a couple of months ago and it really bothered her so she wanted to have me tested.

Well first off I have bronchitis, it's not the first time I've had it and with the shots I got and the medicine they sent home I'm feeling a better and the huffing noise I was making has stopped.

The really bad news is the heartworm test was positive. The vet's office is sending more blood out for a second opinion, we'll know something in a week. My mom was upset at the vet's office and I wanted to go to her but they had me on the table and wouldn't let me down. They had to take more blood and give me shots and all. When we got home and mom told dad about what happened she started crying. Dad, Lexie, Callie and I tried to comfort her and let her know that we knew it didn't happen on purpose. Besides it could be a false positive, I tested positive for over a year after I was treated the first time when the Baytown Humane Society found me. Dad explained that what is so hurtful for Mom is that I've had heartworms before and she worked so hard to keep me healthy and safe. She's really upset that I will have to have the treatment again and she says it's her fault.

Keep us in your thoughts and I'll keep you updated on the results.
