Best Tricks:
Rolling over for a belly rub..everytime you touch him, getting us to scratch his stub by doing the itch emergency, he screws his body up like he's trying to scratch with his missing leg, he does it now when he want's attention.

Arrival Story:
An email was circulated in April from the Baytown Humane Society about this sad dog that was found in a garbage dumping area. He at some point had a wire wrapped around his leg and it caused his paw to rot, he also had every worm known to dogkind including heartworms and he was underweight. They needed help to pay for his medical bills. Well my husband and I sent in money and so did a lot of other wonderful people. He's been through an amputation, a neutering and had all his parasites taken care of, now he's a happy energetic sweetheart. When I saw that initial email I called my husband and told him I had to have this dog. We basically adopted him without meeting him. The meet up a little later was just a formality.

Bio:
Wade has come such a long way since we got him. He's very protective of his family and his home and he's become extremely affectionate. He has this sound he makes when he wants your attention. We call it the YIP, it can mean it's raining outside and I need you to sit with me, it can mean I want to play, now. Basically anytime he wants your undivided attention.

Forums Motto:
Must obey the YIP!

My Life by Wade

Good bye

It is with a heavy heart that I must let everyone know that Wade lost his battle with cancer on Friday. When my husband got home from work Wade was in acute discomfort, our only option was to let him go. He was a favorite of the vet techs and many of them came in to hug him and us and cried along with us at his passing. There will never be another one like him, for he was special in every way. God speed my Tator.

Bad News

We had to take Wade to the vet on Friday, he was back to not eating and his tongue & gums were pale. Tests show he's extremely anemic and the doctor believes it's because of either new tumors or small tumors getting larger and bleeding. We've put him on Prednisone (sp?) and it seems to be helping but it's just a matter of time now.

A little good news...

We had Wade's chest x-rayed and he doesn't have any tumors in his lungs or around his heart at this time. This is wonderful news. He's fully recovered from his surgery and is his old self again. His appetite is back big time and he's running and playing. We know that ultimately the cancer will come back and we will lose him to it, but for right now we're spoiling him and having a ball.
