Tonight we had company- Grandmother, Katie and her Mom came over. I showed them my tricks- sit and fetch. They were impressed.

I am not just a pretty face.

The Way It Is

Today Mo could have explored all those areas we can''t reach due to our leashes. His harness malfunctioned and for a few seconds he was free. But instead of enjoying his good fortune, he ran back to Mom to get his harness put back on.

What a waste of a perfectly good opportunity.

News from My House

Sorry we haven't updated in while. Mom is just too aggravated with our computer- it is so s-l-o-w.

Our family was on Spring Break last week. We stayed home, which was nice. I don't mind traveling as long as I get to go, but staying home with the family is my favorite.

Walks in the Spring are the best! The new grass is so lovely, and I like the way the warm breeze smells. It has turned cool this week- we even had a few sprinkles of snow Monday, sort of a late April Fool's from God, I guess.

Houston We Have A Problem

A couple of weeks ago, I was resting in Mom's lap on a sunday evening, when there was a giantic BOOM. It shook the whole house. It was thunder and it scared me.

This morning we had another storm at 5 am. I was shaking so hard, Mom felt so sorry for me. She sang song after song trying to soothe my inner dog. She didn't pet me- she knew she shouldn't "encourage" my fears by petting me when I am upset. Finally she gave me a dose of medicine left over from when I had tracheal collapse. Then I went back to sleep.

A Bird in the Bush

This morning while Mom was doing the dishes, she spotted a red-headed woodpecker in the trees behind our house. She picked me up and held me so I could see. After a few seconds, my ears perked and a low growl issued from my throat. Great hunks of bark fell from the tree as the large bird made his way up and around the trunk. Mom laughed at my reaction and held Mo up to take a peek.

That runt couldn't even see it! And he calls himself a watch dog. Humpff.

About Monday

I can't tell you how many times I have heard Mom say "Do the best you can and let the rough end drag." Apparently that does not apply to me.

I dragged my end across the floor one time, it was off to the vet. In addition to the humiliating fanny squeeze, they cut my toe nails, and then attempted to file off the ends of my feet with a rotating torture device.

On the bright side, on the way home, Mom stopped at Arby's for food, and
they gave us treats!

To My Dogster Pals:

Saint Valentine was such a true romantic,
We celebrate his day with gifts of love.
I long to send you hearts, a rose or lips.
But, alas! My zealie balance: Zip!

I Am Loved

Everyday, every inch (well almost) of my furry body is lovingly massaged by gentle fingers. I lie still and enjoy the bliss of complete relaxation. I like the chest rubs best, but, truth be told, I don't really like having my head stroked. After the head is finished, it is time for the ear rub. Each ear is carefully and deliciously kneaded.

I feel sorry for humans- they don't get this daily love rub. I try to reward mine with lots of kisses, and by gazing into the eyes of the one who thinks I am the sweetest thing on four legs.

Books Should Be Banned!

I do not like having a book between Mom and me. I try to wiggle onto her chest, but she complains she cannot see through me. I will not sit below her book.

So, while she is reading, I sit at her feet and look mournfully up, hoping she will put it down and pick me up.
