1. My last weigh in was 190lbs- I lost 10lbs.

5. I might be a bit on the bulky side but I can roll around in stinky stuff quite well.

Wow, 3 months!

Well, I officially weighed 191 lbs last month. I probably weigh a little less now. Mom says I look like a Sharpei dog when I sit because of my loose skin from losing weight. I hike right along with the other dogs. I chased a bunny and I really ran! And my biggest new thing is that I can go up and down the stairs now! I am happy about this because my mom goes up there a lot and I would miss her while I waited downstairs. At first Penny the Min Pin wasn't going to let me up there but mom makes her move aside from the top of the stairs so I can come up. Now I can follow mom around every second of the day! She calls me her stalker, whatever that is. I rolled in something lovely the other day and now she calls me her stinky stalker. :-) She keeps talking about a bath when the weather is warm enough. I can't get a good one now because I am just too big and heavy for the facilities so I have been getting a spray on no rinse bath. Mom says it doesn't help much with the dead thing stinky I rolled in. I get along just fine with everyone except for an issue or two with Penny. It took awhile for me and Temper the Lab Mix to find our places but now we hang out together with no problems. They say Penny is territorial but everyday we understand each other a little better.

Wow! It's been two weeks. I LOVE it here! Everyday I go for a hike with my new brother and sisters. Sometimes my brother doesn't go because it is too cold. Anyway, I can go the WHOLE way now! I'm still slow and periodically have to sit and rest but there was one day I went the whole day without sitting! I go up and down hills, by a stream with a spring- but it is frozen now, I up a path with big rocks. There are so many smells I can't keep up with them all, and SO much room. I know I'm a big boy so wide open spaces feel so good. Then I go inside and get a drink and rest. If it isn't too cold we go back out and play. I watch mostly. I have tried to join in a romp a time or two but I don't think I'm quite sure what the rules are. My new mom had been rolling tennis balls by me but I really don't find them interesting. What I do find interesting is the stuffed toys. The other day I noticed mom's big pink slipper. I liked the way it smelled so much I picked it up and laid down with it. Then I got up and happened upon a basket full of stuffed animals that smelled like my brother and sisters so I selected a few and too it over to where I had the slipper. Mom says I would have made a good daddy because I carry my babies around just like my sister Heidi. But mom says I can't be possessive of them. I have to share. I don't know about that.
Anyway, then we eat. I eat seperate because I have moist stuff in my food. I wasn't eating much but my appetite has improved quite a bit but not enough to get any fatter. Then we go out for potty & play, then we all come into the tv room and cuddle up and watch tv, humans, dogs, and even birds are in the tv room. Then at night I sleep next to the bed.
Compare this to a cold cement basement floor! My mom gets excited when I wag my tail and have a smile in my eyes. Sometimes she is so happy she almost cries.

My new life

Wow, so much to tell. My life is so different now. Everyday for walks I do laps around the house with my new mom. I can do two laps now without stopping for breath! Also, I ran a few feet! Well, more like loped but the intent was there, and I hopped onto the porch a couple of times. I have two jobs. I go to the mailbox with mom in the morning and then I help mom feed the barn cat in the evening. It took me a few days to figure out what this affection thing was. I mean, I got petted now and again briefly but my new mom hugs me and asks for kisses. I finally figure out what she meant! I LOVE to give and get cuddles. I give wet sloppy kisses and my mom has to go wash her glasses when I am done. She is really happy when I wag my tail. I still am not real sure what the two other dogs see in balls, but it's fun to watch. And those chewy rawhide things! I get one every evening. They are heaven! My mom says I am in 'the chewy zone'. I'm still not interested in dog food even though it is the same thing I ate before. They put chicken broth in it and it still didn't seem appetizing. They put some nice moist food on it and I ate that but not the crunchy stuff. Mom says I need the crunchy stuff for my teeth. Today they tried peanut butter- no go. I mean I eat a bit and I'm not exactly emaciated. I have energy and I'm drinking and going #1 and #2 fine so...we'll see. When I am done outside I get to go back inside. I'm not stuck out in the cold for hours and then let into a cold basement forever. No, NOW I come in and I get to be a foot rest when mom watches TV in the evenings. At night I sleep in the bedroom on the nice warm carpet with my nice warm blanket. Mom is waiting for my new collar to come in the mail. She told me it is real pretty earth tones. I'm glad because this one is just a bit tight. Then she will put my rabies tag on it and I will be all legal.

Well, here I am!

I am in my new home. I arrived this afternoon. So far I get along great with Heidi, the German Shepherd. I really like her. I get along with the little guy too but as soon as we went into the house he went under the bed and didn't come out. I hope to see more of him. And then the Min Pin growled and barked at me a few times. At first it botherd me but I see that she isn't allowed to do that so I ignore it for the most part. But Temper...she growled and barked when we first met. She scared me a bit even though I am twice her size. So now I growl at her first. I don't know why. I want to get along with everyone. Hopefully, we will all settle into a group.

I tell you though, so far, this is paradise! Before I lived in a basement and no one spend any time with me. Here I get to be in the house with the people. I even have my own blanket. I love it. It is behind the lazyboy where I have discovered is a great 'safe place' like a den. I especially like my new human family. They brushed me and it felt SO good! They say I need a bath but will wait for warmer weather. They also say I need to lose weight. They are also going to send me to visit the doggy doctor soon. I hope my old dog family doesn't miss me too much. I wish they could come here with me.
