Royal here! Exciting/scary news- tonight mom & me take our Pet Partners evaluation to become registered with the Delta Society to participate in Animal Assisted Activities. Everyone keep us in your thoughts tonight! Our test is at 8:45pm.

Potty update

Because Ive had a few messages about it, I thought Id update on his potty situation.

Things have been coming along very well in the potty training dept. He will hold it indoors with a ton of freedom for at least 2+ hrs, and in the crate for 4-5 hrs. The only issue now is holding it through the night. He can go all night if he doesnt get water before bed, and goes out to potty at 11pm or so. He will then hold it until about 7-730am. Not too bad, but will improve as he ages and develops more bladder control.

22 lbs and growing!

Just weighed Royal.. He was 14 weeks old on Monday and now weighs 22 lbs! @__@ He is getting all his adult fur in now, and only has a few areas (his butt, head and sides) that still have that soft puppy fur!! He is becoming so handsome though. He is going to be one gorgeous man!

Oh and his peeing problem has improved. I find that as long as he goes potty around 11pm/12am that he can hold it all night until 730am. THAT, I can do. The peeing in the house is still the same though, will just take time and work to get him back on track.

We went to Carkeek park the other day and he met a corgi puppy, a westie, a couple adult mixed breeds, and a ton of little kids of varying ages. He did so great, no probs with kids whatsoever. No probs with anything actually, hes basically fearless. }:)

Mmm.. strawberry

I never updated on Royal's urination. So we did a urine strip thing which was all normal, and then looked at his urine under the microscope. Found a couple red blood cells but not enough to cause concern. However since he was definitely urinating and drinking water WAY more than normal, we just put him on antibiotics anyway.

Sure enough, in just 2-3 days he was a new dog! haha He is almost finished with the ATBs now and doing great. PHEW! I knew it mustve been something like that. And he loooves the strawberry flavor. ^__^

The bad news however, is that because he couldnt control his bladder and had accidents every night in his crate, as well as throughout the house, for several days, it has put a huge dent in his potty training. Its like back to square one now. He still pees in his crate every night, even without any towels. And he has developed a complete disregard for laying in his own waste. UGH. So, guess back to letting him out once in the middle of the night and every 30-60 mins while hes in the house. )@#$)(&#*%^ At least he holds it for 3-4 hours in the crate during the day! That is the goal for his age.

He had his 3rd DHLPP and his rabies yesterday- wooot woot! 14 days from today (April 20th) and he will be heading to the dog park for the first time!! :D I seriously cannot wait. He turns 16 weeks (4 months) on that monday (April 23rd) so it works out perfectly! (Techniqually no dogs under 4 months are allowed in the dog park).

In other news, I turned 13 weeks old on Monday! Rrrrrruff! Im a big kid now! I weigh 18 lbs and I get my last shot on thursday mom sez, which means in 2 weeks I can go to the DOG PARK- yay! No leashes!!! Cant wait!

Growing like a WEED!

Im going to weigh Royal again on Monday but mid last week he was up to 15 lbs!! Hes getting soooo tall! He coat continues to darken and mask change. His stool has been normal and his energy high! He is so playful and talkative, its great! He is so much fun. Its also wonderful to have all these different boarding dogs for him to play with all the time. Helps me wear him out!! Not to mention hes learning great play & social skills.

He has been drinking a TON of water lately though and has been having accidents in his crate not only at night but now during the day. As well as accidents in the house & ex-pen. All within like an hour of him last going! He should be able to hold it for 3 hrs right now. Ive been trying to limit his water consumption but even then he still has accidents, plus I hate doing that, I mean its obvious theres something wrong. SO hes going to have a fecal done tomorrow and we'll send out a urinalysis. Im assuming he either has some sort of internal parasite or infection.

Just 5 more weeks and he can go to the dog park!!! YAY cannot wait! He is going to love it, and be a huge hit! Plus by then the weather will be gorgeous. Yay for spring!

Royal is getting more vocal by the day! He is too hilarious.. He loves to bark at you to say hi, he barks at other dogs when they have something he thinks he wants too, he barks during play, and of coure he barks when hes not happy- i.e. when you leave the room and hes stuck in the crate or ex-pen! And because he is a husky, he doesnt have a "normal" bark, its like a hoarse, scratchy, rrrrrroof! It is too cute! I cannot wait until he can come to the dog park in May!

He got sick again the other day, vomiting and some diarhea, but not at bad as last time. Its gotta be something Im feeding him. I know his kibble, bully sticks, and flossies are all okay, but other than that I dont know. Just going to take it slow.

Woo Hoo!

Well Royal is all better now!! I figured out it was the bone I gave him Friday morning that made him sick- Alki has the same reaction to crumbly bones. By Saturday afternoon he was feeling better, and then by Saturday evening he was peppy as ever. He had breakfast today and lunch, just of the new kibble alone, and this evening his stool was completely normal! Woohoo!

On Sat late afternoon/evening I took Royal downtown with a couple friends to Pike Place! Its an awesome place to go for socialization. TONS of very different people, loud sounds, new sights, etc etc. It was so good. He met a bunch of men, children, women of course, some homeless guys, saw some horses, and all the rest of the city sights & sounds. And he didnt balk at a thing. Every 5 steps we got attacked by people wanting to pet him, it was just so great. After walking around downtown we went to West Lake center and met even more people. Needless to say he was a pooped puppy that night.

This evening we went over to my friend's parents house where their whole fam gathers every Sunday and he did great. He played with some of the other dogs, and then settled down in the ex-pen, even when I left the room! :) Im hoping to go to the beach this week, and we might go on a short "hike" through Discovery or Carkeek park this weekend. Every day is an adventure with a puppy!
