Arrival Story: After a thorough search of petfinder and all the husky rescue groups in WA, CA, OR, ID and B.C. and coming up with no luck finding a dog that matched my family, AND was known to be good with cats- I decided to get a puppy through a reputable breeder- Windswept Siberians. I drove 4.5 hrs down to central Oregon from Seattle to pick him up on Feb 21st. They were born on New Years Day, 2007. His mamma is "Kossok's Diamond Solitaire" (bred & co-owned by Alice Watt) and daddy is "Chrisdon's Echo Of The Arctic" (owned by Susan Parraga). The litter's page is here: http://zuskasiberians.com/Males/Ec ho_Pups.html (no pups available anymore)
Bio: Royal is everything I wanted in a husky, and more. He loves everyone and every dog, he isnt afraid of anything, and is very, very curious. If he doesnt know what something is he will just waltz up and check it out. He is always thinking and processing his surroundings. You have to stay 2 steps ahead of him or else hes getting into trouble! He constantly surprises and outsmarts me. He is such a DOG, and I love that about him (about huskies in general really). He has so many different behaviors- he dissects, he buries, he stalks, he woos and roos, he resource guards, he talks back, he is curious and inquisitive, and he has a mind of his own! He isnt like a lab that just sits there waiting to be told what to do, you have to convince him that what you want is what he wants (by controlling everything he wants and making him work for it- typical husky!) He has a ton of personality and attitude and always has a lot to say, yet he is very soft at the same time and gets his feelings hurt easily (also typical husky). He certainly lives up to his name. :) He has such a calm, regal way about him, he is never hyperactive or anxious. He adores people but doesnt jump all over them or spaz out when someone pays attention to him. He just flips his ears back, relishing the attention, and sneaks in a lick or 2. He makes me crazy sometimes, but I absolutely adore everything about him!

Whats in a name: Roy·al | Pronunciation: 'roi(-&)l | Meaning: suitable for royalty, magnificent | Origin: Middle English | why I chose it: Ive always loved the name Royal, felt it was a nice strong name. It certainly fits him!
Royal here! Exciting/scary news- tonight mom & me take our Pet Partners evaluation to become registered with the Delta Society to participate in Animal Assisted Activities. Everyone keep us in your thoughts tonight! Our test is at 8:45pm.
Because Ive had a few messages about it, I thought Id update on his potty situation.
Things have been coming along very well in the potty training dept. He will hold it indoors with a ton of freedom for at least 2+ hrs, and in the crate for 4-5 hrs. The only issue now is holding it through the night. He can go all night if he doesnt get water before bed, and goes out to potty at 11pm or so. He will then hold it until about 7-730am. Not too bad, but will improve as he ages and develops more bladder control.
