Arrival Story:
Harley came to me after the loss of another beloved bulldog named Kay. My husband, who was a good friend at the time knew I had lost Kay. He also knew how heartbroken I was, so he found and gave Harley to me. My Mom has always said he won my heart with that dog!
Bio:
Harley was my soul dog! I have never been any closer to another animal. Harley was probably the most peculiar dog I ever owned. He did not trust most people. Would not let a stranger put their hands on him, or take food from anyone. He did not like company coming over, yet in spite of his standoffish ways, he was still one of the most gentle souls around. I call him a social anti-social. Following are more fun facts about Harley: Even though he didn't like strangers too much he still loved going out, getting attention and being told he was pretty, just don't touch him. He loved going to his groomer's (we called it the Poodle Parlor) to get a bath. He had a built in clock and would even wake us up if we overslept. Bath days were real important to him. He felt it was his duty to go and harass all the cats. He was also a real wise dog to. He always stopped and looked before he crossed the street. He even gained a reputation for being a weather forcaster. He would go around smelling all the electrical outlets hours before a thunderstorm ever passed through. That's usually the way we knew if it was truely going to be stormy or not. One of his worst habits was getting a drink of water and wiping his slurpee on some poor unsuspecting victim, usually Grandma LOL! Another bad habit was sticking his nose in people's rear ends. That was totally embarrassing! We had Harley 11 wonderful years. He had cancer and we tried our best to keep him comfortable til the end. My husband even built him a wheel chair when he started having trouble getting around. I still miss him and guess I always will. There will never be another Harley for me.
