Recently we celebrated Merlin's 2nd birthday, he is continuing to grow into a really lovely boy. I am so proud of him.
I come home from work, he's as pleased to see me as I am pleased to see him. As soon as I take off my coat I go outside to play with him. One of his favourite games is for me to throw a stick in one direction, as he races off to get the stick I throw another in the opposite direction, he drops the first stick and chases after the second, its really wonderful to see him having fun. He's growing but he still has that certain “puppy” look about him and so full of fun. One of my games with him, he drops a stick at my feet and sits for me to throw it for him, I pretend to ignore him and turn my back. He picks up his stick and then sits in front of me again. I turn my back on him, then he picks up his stick, drops it at me feet and barks at me. I pick up his stick and say, “This is my stick Merlin, not yours,” he looks at me in total disgust, then runs off to get another stick, then drops that at my feet and sits waiting for me to throw it.
He use to wait for me to go to bed, then run into my bedroom and jump on my bed. Now, when he gets tired he opens the bedroom door, lays on my bed and falls asleep. I have a heck of a job to get him off, in the end I usually have to push him off. When I push him off he gives me that look of “How dare you push me off??”
He's very protective of Bella, if Hobo bothers her, Merlin gets between Hobo and Bella and warns him to back off. When Merlin and Hobo play, they run around for hours, chasing each other, rolling and tussling in the grass, finally when they have enough, Merlin sits beside me and Hobo sits beside my son. If Hobo tries to sit beside me, Merlin gives Hobo a warning growl as if to see, “He's MY dad, NOT yours!”
Merlin gives a lot of love and is loved in turn.
