Arrival Story:
Baby Merlin's story began more then 10 years ago, when a Golden Labrador puppy was brought home, with a view that she would be wonderful friend to my 2 children then aged 14 and 6. Lady came home and settled right in, she was naughty as all puppies are, but she had a wonderful character and temperament The children loved her and she loved them. However, I thought it would be a good idea to get Lady her own doggy friend, so off to the dog pound we went and found a small very mixed breed male named Monty. At first Lady hated Monty with a passion, then as the days and weeks passed, they became truly wonderful friends, completely inseparable, they were the epitome of true friendship. The years passed, then sadly in 2005 Lady died, Monty was broken hearted, crying and howling, nothing could console him whatsoever. Then one day my daughter came home from school and told me of a mixed breed GSD named Bella, who would visit her school and play with the children, but because the owner was moving overseas Bella was put into the dog pound. I thought Bella would maybe be a good friend to Monty. Bella joined the family, and again she has a wonderful character and personality. Bella is quite a large dog, and very boisterous, always wanting to play. Sadly Monty missed his old pal Lady too much, and no other doggy pal would replace her, he simply wasn't interested. Over a year passed since Lady died, all Monty wants to do is eat and sleep, he shows no interest in anyone or anything, no amount of fussing over him revives the spark he had with Lady. Its so sad to watch, he simply wants to be left alone. Bella on the other hand wants to play, and kept pestering Monty, leading to a lot of snapping and snarling. I thought perhaps a puppy would be a good pal to Bella. Then one day totally out of the blue there was an advertisement in the local paper, 6 pure bred GSD puppies for sale, 6 weeks old. A quick phone call confirmed that all 6 were still available so I could have the pick of the litter. I was greeted by the mum and dad of the puppies, both beautiful GSD's with wonderful temperaments. On being shown the puppies, one stood out, he was bigger then the rest, quite bold and very confident. I picked him up and looked at him, he looked at me, then began chewing my moustache, much to the amusement of my daughter. I knew there and then that he was the one. He was immediately named Merlin and taken home where he was introduced to Bella and Monty. Bella wagged her tail, but Monty looked at Merlin and walked off. Merlin has only been with us for a few days, since Friday 12th January in fact, already he and I are bonding very strongly. I take him for his walks around my couple acres of land, he walks right beside me, and comes when he is called with a lovely wagging tail, as if to say, Here I am dad, don't leave me behind. Bella looks at Merlin as if to say, This is MY house kid, so behave. I can see the two of them becoming truly wonderful friends just as Lady and Monty were. Bella and Monty are spoiled as much as possible and included in any activity by the whole family, so neither of them will ever feel left out. Merlin has stopped his crying at night he has settled down, and in the morning he is sitting by the bedroom door, waiting to say Good Morning. I will update baby Merlin's page on a regular basis, so his doggy friends can see how he is growing and getting along. Proud of him? You bet I am!

Good morning Merlin my sweet and wonderful big boy, how are you this morning? I hope that you are having lots of fun and games with your buddies.

Poor Hobo is in hospital, those dogs next door managed to get at him and nearly ripped his right ear off. His face has been punctured right through to his mouth, the right ear canal is visible and above the ear it looks like he's been scalped and his muzzle has gone, I tried to look for it yesterday but couldn't find it. I'm very annoyed as the people next door were complaining when Bella didn't have a muzzle on for a couple of days, if anything their dogs need to be muzzled. Its not all their dogs that need muzzling, its one in particular, one of the youngest, he's a nasty little blighter. I really don't know why Hobo and Bella insist on going up to the fence line to cause problems. Anyway, Hobo has his operations this morning and we can pick him up this afternoon.

Today is partly cloudy, and very cold. Last night was freezing cold and this morning is very chilly, but I reckon it would make a really nice run and play day for you as you wouldn't have problems with heat exhaustion. I just looked out of the window and it looks like we could be in for rain.

I'm sorry about the bad news this morning Merlin, anyway I think its time for you to go play with your buddies and have some fun and games.

I love you my sweet and wonderful big boy and I always will.

Your ever loving Daddy.

Good morning Merlin my sweet and wonderful big boy. It another very overcast day so far just like yesterday, but yesterday afternoon turned out to be nice and warm. Perhaps it will be the same today, hopefully.

Last night I was so shocked, you know how I keep telling you how Spud plays so rough with Molly and hurts her and she can't match his strength and weight, last night she was chewing on a bone when Spud tried to take it from her, I heard a growl, a yelp and saw Spud running away to his hiding spot when he gets scared, Molly had seen him off! She then went back calmingly to carry on chewing her bone, Spud didn't show his face for ages. BRILLIANT, that's just what Spud needed, to be put in his place. I'm so proud that she faced up to him at last. I knew she was a gutsy little girl, she has shown that she is a true and courageous GSD.

Late yesterday afternoon I saw one of the dogs that Bella and Hobo like to argue with had got out, I saw the owner chasing him in his car down the road, then chasing him back home. I heard our pack who were indoors going bonkers, good job I checked to see what the problem was otherwise there would have been lots of snapping and snarling along the fence line again.

Mia is sick again, she must be picking all these bugs up at her play school. I heard her crying during the early hours of the morning. I hate it when she is ill, poor little mite.

I guess its time for you to go play and have some fun with your buddies.

I love you so much my boy and I miss you more then you will ever know.

Your ever loving Daddy.

Good morning Merlin my sweet and wonderful big boy, are you having lot of fun? I hope so my boy, you deserve all the fun you can get.

Guess what Merlin, your diary has been selected as one if "Active posters." Well done my sweet and wonderful big boy. I AM PROUD OF YOU!!!!

Its not a very nice day today my boy, its very overcast, it looks like it could rain. I suppose you could run and play and have some fun Merlin, but you would have to run about to keep warm.

Last night was very cold and as expected Molly jumped up on my bed to keep warm. I don't mind so much when she sleeps back to back with me, then it keeps us both nice and warm, but when she lays down the bottom of the bed it becomes very uncomfortable for me and makes my legs ache.

Again I am drinking a nice cup of tea as I write in your diary, well not exactly. I write on a word processor then when I am finished I save and then copy to your diary, that way if I lose my internet connection I don't lose what I had wrote, which has happened a few times. Most annoying.

I guess its time that you went and had some fun with your buddies my boy.

I love you so much Merlin, please never forget that.

Your ever loving Daddy.
