Birthday: November 28th 2006 Likes: Being made a fuss of, playing with Bella, English tea with one sugar and a little milk Pet-Peeves: Being woken up Favorite Toy: Anything he can pick up and walk off with, sticks, slippers, balls, socks, you name it Favorite Food: His puppy pellets Favorite Walk: On my property Best Tricks: Sitting waiting to be fed Arrival Story: Baby Merlin's story began more then 10 years ago, when a Golden Labrador puppy was brought home, with a view that she would be wonderful friend to my 2 children then aged 14 and 6. Lady came home and settled right in, she was naughty as all puppies are, but she had a wonderful character and temperament The children loved her and she loved them. However, I thought it would be a good idea to get Lady her own doggy friend, so off to the dog pound we went and found a small very mixed breed male named Monty. At first Lady hated Monty with a passion, then as the days and weeks passed, they became truly wonderful friends, completely inseparable, they were the epitome of true friendship. The years passed, then sadly in 2005 Lady died, Monty was broken hearted, crying and howling, nothing could console him whatsoever. Then one day my daughter came home from school and told me of a mixed breed GSD named Bella, who would visit her school and play with the children, but because the owner was moving overseas Bella was put into the dog pound. I thought Bella would maybe be a good friend to Monty. Bella joined the family, and again she has a wonderful character and personality. Bella is quite a large dog, and very boisterous, always wanting to play. Sadly Monty missed his old pal Lady too much, and no other doggy pal would replace her, he simply wasn't interested. Over a year passed since Lady died, all Monty wants to do is eat and sleep, he shows no interest in anyone or anything, no amount of fussing over him revives the spark he had with Lady. Its so sad to watch, he simply wants to be left alone. Bella on the other hand wants to play, and kept pestering Monty, leading to a lot of snapping and snarling. I thought perhaps a puppy would be a good pal to Bella. Then one day totally out of the blue there was an advertisement in the local paper, 6 pure bred GSD puppies for sale, 6 weeks old. A quick phone call confirmed that all 6 were still available so I could have the pick of the litter. I was greeted by the mum and dad of the puppies, both beautiful GSD's with wonderful temperaments. On being shown the puppies, one stood out, he was bigger then the rest, quite bold and very confident. I picked him up and looked at him, he looked at me, then began chewing my moustache, much to the amusement of my daughter. I knew there and then that he was the one. He was immediately named Merlin and taken home where he was introduced to Bella and Monty. Bella wagged her tail, but Monty looked at Merlin and walked off. Merlin has only been with us for a few days, since Friday 12th January in fact, already he and I are bonding very strongly. I take him for his walks around my couple acres of land, he walks right beside me, and comes when he is called with a lovely wagging tail, as if to say, Here I am dad, don't leave me behind. Bella looks at Merlin as if to say, This is MY house kid, so behave. I can see the two of them becoming truly wonderful friends just as Lady and Monty were. Bella and Monty are spoiled as much as possible and included in any activity by the whole family, so neither of them will ever feel left out. Merlin has stopped his crying at night he has settled down, and in the morning he is sitting by the bedroom door, waiting to say Good Morning. I will update baby Merlin's page on a regular basis, so his doggy friends can see how he is growing and getting along. Proud of him? You bet I am! Bio: Merlin passed over the bridge 27th December 2011.

Hello my lovely boy, its a lovely day again today, your kind of day.
Something very strange happened last week and again yesterday. Earlier in the week I became aware that the front door was open, I asked my daughter why she had left the front door wide open, she said she didn't. I half believed her, then yesterday Spud was outside playing and I know for a fact I closed the door, when Spud came running in and went to the water bowl. It couldn't have been Melissa who let him in, because she was out. I can only conclude Spud had somehow managed to open the front door! That boy is getting too clever!
When I gave you a cuddle Spud became very jealous, which led to a lot of growling from you as he tried to push you out of the way. He hasn't changed much, if Molly wants a cuddle or petting, Spud gets very jealous and very vocal. Although you use to get very jealous too if I gave Spud a cuddle and you would try to push him out of the way, as if to say, "He's MY Daddy." I did love putting my arms around your massive neck and kissing you on the head, my special boy Merlin.
Time to go play my boy and have some fun.
I will love you forever Merlin, you can be sure of that.
Good morning my wonderful boy, its a good day for playing, overcast but not cold and no wind perfect for running around like a mad thing.
The nights are pretty cold now, so cold I have two duvet's on my bed, I really don't like winter. If I remember correctly, neither did you.
Melissa's baby Mia is just over a week old, it's amazing how much noise comes out of something so small.
I have to keep a close eye on Molly, she is so naughty and full of mischief. She had one of my boots, she stole the clothes brush I was issued 46 years ago in the military, she stole one of my hankies, what is it they say about idle hands? Or in this case idle paws! She is getting quite big now, not quite big enough yet to knock over Spud, but she's getting there. She had to have a new collar as her puppy one was too tight.
Do you remember your first collar? Black leather with studs, you looked so cute.
Time for you to go play and have some fun my lovely boy.
Its not a very nice day today Merlin, very overcast with a light wind and quite chilly. Ok for playing unless it starts raining.
Spud was really pushing his luck with Bella yesterday, he kept trying to play with her and she didn't want to know, in the end she really got fed up with him and turned on him. Of course Molly was in the middle of it playing with Spud, but Bella was really lashing out with her teeth. I had to drag Molly out of the way in case she got bitten and then try and chase off Spud. That boy will never learn, its all a game to him. I remember how Spud use to push his luck with you, he wouldn't back off until you really snapped at him.
Do you remember how Lady Zara was so pleased to see us when we came home from work? She would see us, squeeze through the boundary fence and come running up so happy to see us all. You would jump out of the mini bus and run with her, I think she really loved you Merlin. She was such a sweet girl she had a lot of love to give and she got it from us, even though she wasn't our dog.
Time to go play my special boy and have some fun with your buddies
