Arrival Story:
Pete was born in Louisville, KY and adopted to a family in Atlanta. His original family didn't want him anymore and gave him to their housekeeper/nanny. When she didn't want him anymore, she called the breeder and told him that she was going to give him to the SPCA. The breeder wasn't to have any of his puppies to live out such a fate, so he had Pete shipped back to Louisville to live with him At the same time, I was walking our only basenji at the time down the main street in our neihborhood. A couple that I know stopped and asked me about Grace. One of them had basenjis when he was gropwing up, and was interested in getting another. I gave him the name of our breeder. They contacted the breeder, went to see Pete and brought hime home. We invited Pete over to play with Grace once or twice, and in a couple of months, Pete's new adopted family could no longer care for him. The breeder asked us to take him. Since the two got along well, and we wanted him to have a good, stable home, we decided to take him. this was our years ago. Pete and Grace have been happy together ever since.

Bio:
We don't know what it was like for Pete in his first couple of years. However, he was a lot less energetic than Grace. He has really come out of his shell since he has been with us, but he still seems a lot more shy than Grace.
