Likes:
Gus loved laying on the sofa next to his Mom, having a snack of cheese, or growling - he growled all the time, it was his way of talking.

Pet-Peeves:
Anything blowing in his face, direct eye-contact for too long, his schnauzer brother Ralph (Gus could be a grouch!), and squeakers inside toys.

Favorite Toy:
All of the toys in the house were his - he would collect them and put them on his doggie bed - then he would bite them until the squeakers stopped working.

Favorite Food:
Cheese (cheddar or American), cottage cheese, Beggin' Strips

Favorite Walk:
He didn't like walks too much - he had back trouble, so he preferred to lay down (even to eat!)

Best Tricks:
Gus did have one trick - if you gave him a treat he didn't like, he could actually spit it across the room. His best trick, though, was just being such a good friend for 13 years.

Arrival Story:
I literally knew Gus since the day he was born - his Lhasa mom (Molly) lived with my mom and dad, and I even helped cut his umbilical cord when he was born. He was one of 8 puppies (4 boys and 4 girls), and he lived with 2 of his Lhasa sisters (Lucy and LF), Molly, and Lhasa uncle (Sam) for 9 years, but joined our family in 2002 when my mother was unable to keep him any longer. He was pretty sad when he arrived - it took a while to get used to those funny looking Schnauzers, so he preferred to keep away from them and stay close to his humans! :) In 4 years Gus endured 2 back surgeries for slipped discs, and was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2006. He died July 21, 2006, and it broke our hearts to lose our little guy that day. We miss him very much.

Gus's Quirks:
Gus could be a little weird. He couldn't walk past a supporting beam in our house without licking it - if he forgot to when he walked past, he would go back and do it, and then move along. He would also panic when we came home if he couldn't find a toy to greet us with - if all else failed, he would find one of his human brother's dirty socks. He couldn't go outside to use the bathroom without one of his toys in his mouth.

Funny Gus Moments:
Gus ate a box of crayons (almost all 64!) when he was a puppy, and had technicolor poop for days! When he had back surgery and had to go in for physical therapy, they put him in a tank of water up to the middle of his chest with a conveyor belt in the bottom (so he could exercise without impact on his joints) - he couldn't stop drinking the water as he ran along!

Theme Song:
"Low Rider" by War and "My Way" by Frank Sinatra
