My recipe page, and Mommy's blog

Hey everyone!

For those of you who haven't already seen them, there are a couple websites I'd like you to look at.

The first one is my own personal recipe page, called "Solomon's Royal Barkery". Mom has posted recipes for my favorite homemade treats, and also for the homemade stew that she feeds us. The apple, oat and cinnamon treats are my favorite, but they are all delicious and easy to make (according to Mom).

You can find my recipes at: http://terri.oak.googlepages.com/home

My Mom has a blog page all about dog food and the good and bad stuff that's in it. Check it out. There is a lot of good information on there, some of which is really yucky! No wonder Mom makes a lot of our food! She also talks some about her rescue work and other things. Her blog is called "You're Feeding Me WHAT???"

Check it out: http://petfoodreport.blogspot.com/

I hope you enjoy the sites. Try out some of the homemade treats and tell me what you think. I think they're the best.

Later, pup pals....

Solomon

Boy am I lucky!!!

Hey there everyone.

So, what do you guys think about this dog food recall stuff?? It's very scary, and they just keep adding more and more foods to the list. I am very lucky that what our Mom feeds us is not on any of the lists (she is VERY picky about our food). Even so, she has switched our food to a dry food that is mostly meat, and NO grains at all. She doesn't trust any grain products in our food right now. To make our diet more balanced, she started cooking big pots of homemade doggie stew to mix with our kibble. YUM! Mom is a good cook! She puts lots of good things like ground turkey, chicken gizzards and hearts (and livers sometimes), organic barley, all sorts of vegetables, canned pumpkin or babyfood fruit purees, wheat germ (whatever that is!), and a little flax oil. She says that's good for our coats. I think last time she even put in some things called "alfalfa sprouts" and "spinach". I'm not sure what those are, but I trust Mommy to only give us stuff that is good for us. And let me tell you....that stew is YUMMY!!!

It's great to have a Mommy that loves us so much that she would rather cook all our food than risk our health to anything at all. Oooohh....I almost forgot. Sometimes she gives us a can of salmon as our dinner. Another big YUM!

I got a summer hair trim a few weeks ago. My "plumey" tail isn't all that plumey at the moment, but it won't take long to grow out I'm sure. Daddy says I look cute and that I look like a puppy again. I don't know about that, but I do know that Daddy sure loves me a lot!! He even stayed with me while I got my haircut.

Oh, and here's the best thing of all! Mommy and Daddy bought me a new toy when I got my hair cut as a reward for being good. It's a rubber hamburger that squeaks!! I love it. I put it in my mouth and squeak and squeak and squeak.....what fun! Mommy and Daddy make faces sometimes like I'm making too much noise, but they know I'm having fun so they don't say anything. I have to keep it away from Sam, because the last time I had one of these he chewed it up, swallowed some of it, and barfed all over the living room rug. I don't think Mommy was too happy about that... At night, I get to go in the bedroom with Mommy and Daddy while all the other dogs sleep out in the rest of the house. I get to play "hamburger" with Daddy. FUN! Sometimes the Cover Monster gets my hamburger and puts it under the covers and squeaks it at me. I hate the Cover Monster! I always growl and try to bite him but I can't seem to catch him. Bad old Cover Monster!!! Daddy finally gets my hamburger away from the Cover Monster, then it's time to go nite-nite.

I suppose I'd better close for now. Let's all keep our thoughts and good wishes going for all those pups (and the kitties, too) that have gotten sick from the yucky pet foods. I know their Mommies and Daddies have to be worried sick. And let them know that we are all very sorry about any fur kids they may have lost. Let's remind them that they WILL see their furbabies again. They'll be waiting at the rainbow bridge for them, and then they'll always be together. At least that gives them, and us, a little hope in this awful situation.

Puppy kisses!

Oops....I think Mommy is miffed

Greetings to all. This is my first diary entry, but it's something that's been on my mind and I wanted to see if any of you had a similar experience.

My parents chose me when I was just 7 weeks old because I was SO cute! From the beginning I have been treated as a child. I have never known a hard day in my life. I have been catered to, pampered, spoiled, and loved more than any pup could ever wish for. Mommy always makes sure I have the best food she can get, lots of great toys, a whole bag of bandanas to wear, and she makes my treats herself with yummy organic ingredients. They are the only treats I will eat. Milkbones??? No way!!! Not this pup!

Mommy says I may be a little TOO spoiled, though. Let me explain. I don't like to eat alone, so I won't normally do it unless someone is in the dining room with me, or at least in the living room where I have a clear view of them while I eat. I am not a big eater. I'm a nibbler. I like to grab a bite here and a bite there (you know, they say small meals help you keep your trim figure). Well, I tend to get hungry in the wee hours of the morning since I eat that way, and of course I will not eat alone, so......(can you see where this is going?)

At least 3 or 4 times a week, at about 4:00 AM, I wake Mommy up so she can come in the dining room with me while I have a snack. Then I get a drink, go out to potty real quick, then we go back to bed. She tries to ignore me sometimes, but I can tell she's really awake. I will paw at her arm and, if she still ignores me, I will drape the upper half of my body across her and paw her some more. If that still doesn't work, I just hop up on the bed and lay right on top of her and start licking her face. She says it's hard to ignore a 70 lb dog sitting on you in the middle of the night. I am so happy when she comes with me to eat that sometimes afterward I want to play ball. Mommy doesn't seem too amused at that, but I don't know why. Playing ball is fun!!

Sometimes I just get lonely since everyone is asleep and I want some company. What do I do? I wake Mommy up. She'll come out in the living room with me and I'll curl up on the couch and watch TV with her. Mommy is so nice.

I think, however, that Mommy is a bit annoyed with me. I heard her telling Daddy that she gets tired of being woke up at 4:00 AM so I can eat or play, or just because I want her to keep me company. She never fusses at me, but I can tell sometimes that she isn't real happy about getting out of bed. She tried shutting me out of the bedroom a couple times, but I hated that! I don't like being away from my parents, so I stood outside the door and barked and whined until they let me back in.

Mommy tells Daddy that I'm TOO spoiled. Is that possible? I don't think I'm being a bad pup. I just want to have some company when I eat. I'm a really good boy most of the time (except when I steal socks, Mommy says).

So, what do you think? Is Mommy just annoyed because she is tired from being woke up a lot? I guess it's true that she can't sleep all day like I can. Poor Mommy. But I can't help it. I don't like to be alone and I want my humans with me all the time. Hopefully Mommy will forgive me and keep doing all the nice things for me that she does. She's a good human, and she loves me.

Right now I've got to go. I think I see some socks in the laundry basket.......
