It's My SECOND Birthday!!

WOW...been quite awhile since I last posted here. Well, today is my SECOND birthday! I had a great time at the dog park with my buddies, and am looking forward to a nice evening with my pawrents!

Take a Hike!

The open trails, no leash in site, plenty to sniff...what could be better! Hiking is a pawesome way to not only get great exercise, but bond with your human as they practice recalls with you!

We went to a local trail that has a days worth of hiking trails, and picked a small loop to begin our hike! It was great, I was zipping through the trails, making sure to wait until my human caught up to me. The great things you see while hiking! Sniffing plants, marking trees, I even found a dead frog and attempted to roll in it's smelly goodness until I was interupted!

The Seaton Trail (where we hiked) has great hills to climb and gorgeous views once on top! Huge fields of tall grass to run through. My human commented that I looked like a gazelled leaping through the African savannah! It's exhilirating! What goes up, we must also come down, and down we go and find a creek where I can dip my feet to cool off, and take a sip to rehydrate.

So 8.5km later, as we're on our way out of the trail, I disappear into the brush. My human is calling for me...and I hear her, but have found something better to occupy my attention. But she persists on calling, so like a good dog, I come bounding out only to hear her say, "SIMBA! What have you done??!!!".

I found poop. I rolled in it, and possibly ate some of it. The evidence was still on my face. Ooops.

Needless to say, that kind of killed the warm fuzzy feeling my human was having about hiking with her dog. She was just happy she brought a towel in the car, for just such emergencies.

Guess who got a bath when they got home? But I still recommend it. Take a hike! Your dog will thank you. Maybe even with a romp in poop!

Once and for all: I am NOT a Doberman!

Out for a walk with mom, and we come upon a lady and her oversized Boston Terrier (who suspiciously looked like she had French Bulldog mixed in...esp. in the face)

She pulls off to the side, and says how cute I am, as her dog viciously starts barking. Mom says "how cute...is he a Boston?" Thinking boy, cause of his size..

and very trite the lady responds, "SHE is a purebred Boston Terrier...and is he a puppy?? cause she'll rip his throat out!"

Say what??!!!

So mom says, "well, he's 14 months", and realizes she doesn't know what kind of dog I am, and says "he's full grown, he's a Manchester Terrier".

"Oh, well, he looks like a Doberman, and you know, dogs are puppies until they are two."

Really? Whatever lady, can't you see by my paws I'm a small dog anyway?? I didn't even want to sniff that fat Boston's butt anyway. If she's a purebreed, I'm a Doberman puppy. BOL!!

sheesh. the saga continues!!

Makin' momma proud!

Mom is sooo proud of me today! (well, yesterday too!)

She's realizing I'm a big pup now! Yesterday and today daddy was crazy busy at work, and couldn't take his afternoon break to come home and walk me.

But I was a very patient pup, and stayed a whole 8 hours in my crate without an accident!

Mom forgets that I'm 1 now, and can hold it for longer periods of time! I got some good cookies and snuggles for being such a good puppy!

Aaaaaannnnnnddd I got to play with my new best friend Mimi!! She's really an awesome pup and we play sooo well together! Our pawrents let us off leash in the football field behind our building, and we never run too far! We are too busy wrestling! But boy is she getting big! She now outweighs me and is taller than me! Her dad thinks she will break the 100lb mark!! At least I know I'll always be able to outrun her!!

It's raining cats and who???

Well, I wasn't too happy with mom yesterday! It was torrential downpour here and when she came home from work, she put my raincoat on and actually expected me to walk in the rain!! The nerve!

Well, when we got out of our building, and I saw the rain, I hit the brakes really fast! But nooooo, mom picked me up and carried me to the side of the building to make me do my biz!!!

I was not having it! I tried to run back to the front door, but she held on to my leash (blasted leash!). So I finally relented...did my biz, and we ran back inside!

The good thing....I got a PAWESOME treat when we got back inside. Mom got some gourmet cookies for me!! So I ate a squirrel shaped cheesy cookie! YUM!!! Then I forgot all about the rain!

I love Spring!!

Oh, boy...I've been sooo busy, I'm sorry I haven't written earlier!! I LOVE SPRING!!! All the doggie's are out and about, I've been hiking (off leash!!!), I've been to the beach (brrrrr....water's too cold still!), and to off leash dog parks (yaaaayyyy!!)

I went for a 6.5km hike last night, boy did I have fun!! I met a German Sheppard puppy too!! BOL! I was waaaay too fast for him...poor little guy, he kept barking at me, cause he couldn't catch me!! I zoomied all around him in the woods! It was PAWESOME!! I get to be off leash, cause we are in a conservation park, and there are no cars, and no place for me to get into real trouble! (as if I'm any trouble! BOL!!).

Well, this is just a short message...gotta get back to the sunshine!

First Date!

OMD! I'm so excited! I've got my first date coming up this Sunday, with my girl Denali! (whooo-hoooo).

We're headed to an indoor dog park to meet with some other dogs for a playdate. I'M SO EXCITED!!!

I'll let you all know how it goes! I can't wait to get some pictures of both of us together.

I have a girlfriend!!!

Sweet Denali! We met here on Dogster...pawtied in our favourite group MPMM (Min Pin Manchester Mania!!!!) and the sparks flew!

She is a sweet Min Pin/Chihuahua mix (http://www.dogster.com/dogs/452566) and like me is a big dog in a cute little package!!

Check her out, leave her a bone!! But boys...paws off now!! :)
