Arrival Story:
We didn't expect Shelby to come into our lives. My husband's brother had a pure bred Lab and a pure bred Pit Bull. The Lab got pregnant and had a litter. We had gone to his hometown for a visit and the puppies just happened to be old enough to take. We both fell in love with Shelby as soon as we saw her. She was the fattest one of the bunch and definitely the pick of the litter. Everyone wanted her but we had claimed her first! We thought because she was so laid back and calm, that she might keep that disposition as she got older........boy, were we wrong!!!!!! She definitely runs the household now!!!!!!

What a long day!

Wow! Today sure was a long day! I got up with mommy, as usual, this morning and guarded her while she got ready for work. I always have to keep an eye on her so that nothing happens to her while daddy is sleeping. That is my job. After I went outside and ate some breakfast, I climbed back into bed with daddy to keep watch over him while mommy left for work. I don't know why she can't just stay home and play with me all day long! Luckily, it was a pretty day today so daddy let me stay outside in the fence instead of in my kennel. Of course, with nobody to guard, the day went by slowly.......chased a squirrel, barked at someone next door, stood on top of my dog house a few dozen times to get a good look at the driveway. I was just waiting and waiting for someone to come home! Finally, I saw mommy!! I got so excited, it was a good thing that I was already outside!! As soon as she let me out of the fence, I tore off to run my usual two laps around the house as fast as I possibly could. Then, I turned back towards mommy and almost took her out. I always forget to slow down when I see her because I am usually so excited that she is home! We went inside and worked on some of my tricks. My new trick, begging, is coming along really nicely. Soon, I will be able to balance all by myself. I am trying very hard. After dinner, I laid on the floor and shreded up one of my many blankets and mommy signed me up for this website! I am so excited for all the new friends that I am going to make. But now, I am off to bed. This is my favorite part- I get to lay right in between mommy and daddy and snore really loud while they try to sleep. Good Night!!
