Arrival Story: Francie was born January 13, 2005 in Port Elgin, Ontario. She and her sister were sold to a woman who had planned on starting a breeding program but she very quickly clued in that the commitment was huge and she would not have enough time as she also had a 6 year old son. She decided to sell Francie and her sister because it was also very obvious that they were a totally unsuitable breed to be around a boisterous little boy who wanted to play rough! Why she didn't realize all this beforehand really amazes me! I am certain Francie's nervousness with small children is a direct result of what she endured in this home. Anyway, my friend Amy told me about these babies and the rest is history! I was the luckiest person in the world to have been able to make this cutie part of the family. The day this little gal came into my life was a major and wonderful life changing event!
Bio: Francie has the most wonderful mellow personality and is just the dearest little thing! She's healthy and sturdy and has none of the health issues that can be common to the Maltese breed---(ie)luxating patellas, liver shunt problems, heart murmurs---thank goodness she has good breeding! She was 'born to play' and I spend a lot of time on the floor with her throwing her little sponge cat balls she loves so much or wrestling with her for one of her 'squeekies'! If I am busy on the computer I can be certain very soon I will have a little face in mine with a squeekie in her mouth! She is such a lovely little soul---I am so incredibly lucky! How time flies---I can't believe she is already 4! She still acts like a puppy, though! Just a little doll and cute as a button! Francie was Dogster's "Dog of the Day" on March 18, 2007!
Yaaayyy!! Francie was in the 2007 Holiday Picture Party www.dogster.com/hpp07/holiday_page .php?i=455911

Mommy has often wondered if I had some Poodle or Lhasa or Bichon in me because I am a little bit bigger than your average Maltese (10lb) so she ponyed up and paid to have my DNA tested! It was easy---two cheek swabs, one left and one right, pop them in an envelope when air dry and send them off to the ViaGuard Accu-Metrics lab (www.viaguardinc.com) in Toronto. Voila---two weeks later we got the results----Mom was wrong! I am 100% Maltese with no trace of any other breed in me going back at least 5 generations! I am just on the higher size percentile for my breed---apparently there are a lot of pet Maltese who are in the 10lb range! It’s so neat to have the information and my DNA is on file at the lab forever! I get a great certificate with my photo on it and all kinds of information about my breed characteristics, any possible health concerns, etc! This is sooo cool!! What fun!
Happy St. Paddy's everyone---I hope everyone finds their pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow!

Wooooohoooo!! It's March break and Mom's home for an entire week! We can just hang out together and have a relaxing fun week! It's beautiful and sunny so this morning we went to the park and I had a lot of fun chasing my new bright pink golf ball all over the place! Mom threw it---they go really far cause they are a bit heavy---and I ran and ran like a little bunny! It was so cool and I had a riot! Mom is really surprised that I like golf balls and is very very careful I don't get clunked with it. She bought a pack of pink ones just for me! Spring is nearly here (on Friday!!) and soon it will be summer-----wheeeeee!!
