"Just a Dog"...

“Just a Dog”

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.

Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog." just smile, because they "just don't understand."

My friend Spankie's mom found pictures of me when I was little and sent them to my mom for my page! Spankie was my very first friend ever and we had a lot of fun together! Mom says she can't get over how small I was says it's hard for her to remember those days now that I'm such a big boy German Shepherd!

Boy I was cute even then huh? BOL!!

I made a new friend today!

I had a playdate with my new friend Nina this afternoon! She's a Great Dane that's in Mom's class and she came over to play in the mud with me! We had a great time laying in the mud puddles, sticking our faces in it and gettin' down and dirty! Nina got a boo boo foot while we were playing but she didn't mind cause we were having so much fun! We got so muddy that we had to get hosed off and boy that water was cold but it was SO worth it. Our Moms say we're gonna play again and I can't wait cause I was so sorry to see her go home!

Mom started a group!

Mom decided to start a new group here today...It's PetSmart Pups and it's for doggies who were trained at (like me) or adopted from (me again) a PetSmart store to share stories and accomplishments. So if you know anyone who's done or doing the PetSmart thing, tell them to join!!

I of course am not interested right now because I'm sleeping...but I'm sure she'll keep me up to date on what's going on.

Today's my Birthday!

Today's my 5th birthday! Mom made me take stupid hat pictures like she always does but I got my Frosty Paws so I'm happy! Mom's so good to me and gives me so much love and toys and stuff so I figure it's the least I could do for her, even though it's embarrassing! Me and my brother Bismarck have been on Dogster since January 6th and we've already made SO many new friends and gotten lots of bones, rosettes & stars...we love it here!
