My name is HF/FX Look Nook. I'm a face to put with the tainted dog food recall of 2007. I'm not the only face, I'm sure, as my Mistress and good friend has lost two other beloved animals to the recall.
I was the first, it was February 1, 2007 that my Mistress/Mom found me, I was already dead, hidden away from my litter of eight week old puppies. I died some time in the early morning, I hid myself so that my puppies would not cry. It was the hardest thing I had to do to leave my puppies, but it was the right thing to do, they were all so young, but I knew that they would be taken care of, most puppies leave their Momma's at eight weeks, but my Mom was different she believed that puppies needed to stay with their Momma's and their families a little longer. Sure it was more work for her, but she knew it was the right thing for all of us.
I hated to leave her in such a way, I never got to say the proper "Goodbyes." She had taken me in and loved me as if I had been born there. She had even taken in my rogue son, Raba. She loved us, she told us that we would never have to worry about being found new homes, because "we were home."
She had checked on me and my puppies at 8pm on January 31st. We were all fine, she told us all that she loved us, and that she was going to bed. I was so thirsty during the night, I managed to drink six quarts of water, and I was still thirsty. The pain was horrible, but I couldn't, I wouldn't let my puppies see me this way. I knew it was my time to go. I knew that my puppies would be in good hands, so I got myself into the whelping box, that was too tall for the puppies to get into, and I passed on.
It was the hardest thing for me to do.
Mom found me early the next morning, I had already crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. She made sure all of my puppies were fed, exercised and placed back into "our" room, before taking my breathless body to the Vets office. She did this all by herself, not letting any of her family members know, until after I was dropped off.
She made sure to get my ashes back, and they're sitting on a shelf along side her best friend, Kelley who had been with her for 14 1/2 years. I feel so proud to have been owned by her, she loved me for me, she took excellent care of me, and I was so happy to know that after this litter I was going to actually get to retire, and most importantly "I was home!"
I want to thank you for taking in Raba, when no one else would, for looking after my puppies. I know you didn't plan on keeping all of them, but you are a responsible breeder and you have taken two of them back, and you're buying the last one back to make sure that he has a forever home. More breeders should be responsible like you. Please give them all hugs and kisses from me.
Thank you for opening up your heart and letting me in, if even for a short time.
Love Always,
Nooky
