For anyone else who may need some info..Ice has the most common crystals again. She arrived with them and an infection. MAP ( magnesium, amonia and phospate). No infection this time..Science diet is a minimal and partial solution for us. She was x-rayed for stones, NONE! She is eating some s/d. The ingredients that are useful are dl-methionine and the hydrochlorides and chloride. Okay the low 2% protein helps but GEEZ, @ 2$ a can, she would need like 5 a day for crappy food?? I know she needs lower protein to resolve this but can't bring myself to totally restrict her to over-priced garbage, sorry Hill's, but she was off corn. I don't want to make Hill's sound bad, because it does do the job, it's just not for us. Corn BY THE WAY is acidic, and WE NEED acidic foods for her, her PH was 9!! It's holding pretty steady now at a range of 7-6, depending on time of day. It's just the corn gluten, crap of the corn that is in most dog foods that I resent so much..she's welcome to a nice cob of it anytime!! She also needs a food low in magnesium for now and always. I'm supplementing her with apple cider vinegar and adding pure sea salt to her drinking water. The results are immediate with the ACV, but not permanent. She only gets a teaspoon a day, so it's not like she's on so much that it's just the vinegar lowering the ph. The salt aids as well. If anyone has more info that would help me, feel free to drop me a note. Anyone thinking of trying this needs to read a LOT as you don't want a male dog to end up with stones due to too high acidity urine either, they are usually not passable in the average neutered male. You really can make a world of difference without having to feed your dog over priced bad food. So, the search for a new and permant good food for all 3 begins again. We'll never stick with just one..that would be too boring IMHO..she was on some good stuff, but it was NOT good for HER. As with people, no one thing works for all eh?
