Summertime

Summer is almost here and it's been busy around here. My human parents renewed their vows on May 19, after 10yrs of marriage. There were so many people at our house! Lots of leftover burgers and hot dogs from the BBQ. Awesome! They were also playing volleyball and I don't understand why I couldn't play? I'd be patiently sitting there, awaiting my turn for the ball and someone would shoo me off the court. How unfair! Summer means more outdoors and more cookouts! Yum. With people coming over-it also means more baths for me---ugh!!

The Waiting Game

My Mommy was gone all weekend. She and a friend went to Gatlinburg, TN for the weekend with all the kids. I thought that I would enjoy the sound of silence, but that didn't happen. The first night I slept in the bedroom, wishing my Mommy was there. I like Dad too, but he's not Mommy! When he came home from work on Saturday and I saw it was him coming through the door, I sadly went back into the bedroom and continued waiting. She FINALLY got home on Sunday and I was doing a "happy dance" at the top of the stairs and then I ran and almost knocked her down. I think she missed me too. I smelled everybody and Gatlinburg seemed like it was a nice place to visit=lots of neat smells that I've never smelled before. Unfortunately I get carsick and could never go with them. Who needs to go, I can curl up on the couch with my bone and watch the Travel Channel with Mommy!

Sunny Days

Saturday the weather was beautiful! I got to roll in the grass and my Mommy brushed me until I fell asleep. Can Life get any better? I watched the girls play and put up with my neighbor's new dog. Ugh, she's a pain. She barks at me through the fence and she's HUGE! I think they better make sure she's really a dog and not a gorilla. I've never seen a head that big! Their other dog is an embarassment to the canine family. She'll jump on the trampoline with all the kids and looks silly. I'm too cool for that. I prefer to stand by Mommy, behaved and roll my eyes at those silly other dogs. Mom informed me I'm going to the groomer soon---only if they can find me! HA! I've got hiding places they don't even know about.

Jealousy

On Friday we had all the neighbors over to hang out and let the children play hide & seek and basically run amuck throughout the yard. I love humans, but they brought their "pets" over too. I get very upset when other dogs come around my Mommy. I even sat on her feet and gave each of them a "stare down". Mommy said I have to get used to this if we're going to get another dog. She also explained that she LOVES me very much, but since I'm getting older I need a friend to keep me young. One of the other dogs is a puppy and man, he's a pain! He tried jumping on me and playing with me. I am WAY TOO MATURE to play. I'm a lady...ladies do NOT play. To top off the craziness, Chloe has a harness leash for those rats! Silliest thing I have ever seen! All the humans thought that was so adorable. (rolling my eyes....)

Party time

My oldest pet Chloe turned 9 on Friday. She invited five of her friends for a sleepover. Seek cover and hide the twinkies!!!! My youngest pet, Sophia was banned from the house, by her big sister. Those rats FINALLY had a bad day. The girls hardly put them down. Rufus and I secretly enjoyed their torment. I didn't mind them, they gave me leftover pizza crust and I had my share of numerous snacks that were dropped. Mommy was worried I'd have a tummy ache and repeatedly warned the girls not to share. Mommy and I tried to sleep, but those girls kept us up most of the night. They watched the JAWS movies and we would be awaken by screams! I wagged my tail with delight when each girl left to go home. We went to the park on both Saturday and Sunday. I jumped into the creek both times and Mommy had to smell me during the car ride home. Hee hee. To love me is to smell me!!

New Friend

I still haven't gotten ahold of those stinkin' rats! I've even got the cat plotting with me...I'll keep you posted on my clever scheme!

I just found out that I may be getting a new brother or sister and I'm not too happy about it. For one thing, he/she is a DOG. I'm not really a dog, just a small hairy human. I'm actually convinced of this-this is why I hate that leash thing. It's so degrading!I promised Mommy I would give them a chance...but I just don't know. That's just another thing to take some of Mommy's attention. I'm really busy! I've got to catch up on my beauty sleep and check for crumbs under the kitchen table. Plus, if my clever plan works to get into Chloe's room....I still have to figure out how to get into a rat cage! Ugh, all these obstacles!

Wet Rats

This weekend was tough! Chloe invited her best friend Gracie over and I had to endure three little girls giggling and squilling all night long! Plus, they didn't even pay attention to me. Those goofy rats are a hit! Oh, and once when I walked by her room, they had the door ajar and Abbie was on her bed running around. I quietly entered in and was almost to the bed and SUDDENLY they saw me. Darn! So close....
I really need to have a talk with those rats about who should be getting all the loving around here! I can easily understand how rats were responsible for plagues and nasty stuff-they are making my life miserable!
Then, on Sunday my Mommy was giving those silly things a bath and then she blow dried them! Have you ever heard of someone bathing and drying a rat??!! Mommy laughed and said, "It's not everyday that I get to blow dry a rodent!" She did look ridiculous. Mommy let me smell them again and wow, I could just imagine them with some worstershire sauce and.... just kidding!

Gone crazy....

I've been feeling very rebellious lately. I guess I'm just testing my limits with Mommy. She doesn't understand that I NEED to sometimes leave the yard and explore. There are better smells and sights in the neighbor's yard. She doesn't understand this. Plus, that odd looking bassett hound down the street, is ALWAYS messing with me when he walks by with his human. I bark at the window and he sees me, but he STILLS walks by my house. He needs to learn who the boss is around here. Girls rule and boys drool!
I'm still having issues with the rats. Mommy wanted to leave Chloe's door open last nite but I kept "whimpering" under the cage. I was just letting her know how pretty the rats were and I want to be friends with them... do you think she'd believe that story?? (evil grin......)

Dirty rat!

To add to my discomfort-Chloe got an add-on cage for her rats "home". Not only can I see them through the glass, but they can also climb through a cage jungle gym at the top! I saw Dad putting this together last nite. I'm SURE that those rats are taunting me! Mommy actually let me sniff one and they definately smell like bad news! During the day Chloe's bedroom door is closed so that Rufus and I cannot get curious. Those humans really don't trust us. I can't understand why? Ok...maybe I HAVE been known to get in the garbage or sneak things off the kitchen table. And I DO tend to chase Rufus sometimes. But he MAKES me do it! It's probably all his fault. I can't understand why they won't let us in that room??!!! I've thought of all possible routes: I can't get through the window-it's on the second floor and I can't fit through those little vents on the floor. What can I do?? If anyone can think of a master plan...share!

Let it Snow

Today my Mommy let me out and it was freezing! Icy rain and snow-Yuck! My paws got wet and if the cat didn't have to go outside..why do I? He always gets his way! He gets into my food bowl, meows in the middle of the night and wakes me up, and he can climb up and away so that he can't be dressed up by Sophia! Cats have all the luck.
I've been spending most of my day trying to figure out how those things called "door knobs" work? If I could just get inside Chloe's room and closer to her two pet rats, Lizzie & Abbie..... I wouldn't hurt them.. maybe just play with them. I do get excited when they start moving around in their "home". Mommy gives me that "look" when I try to jump up there. If any of you dogs out there know how to work those "door knobs"-let me know!!!
