I miss you so much little guy. You were a perfect addition to our family. I still can not believe that all three of my boys crossed the bridge. I hold onto the thought that you stay together and wait for me to come play with you again.

Missing you so much!!
Love,
Mommy

Kahne crossed the rainbow bridge....

We tried everything possible to save our little guy but it just was not enough. I wish we had more time with him. Kahne was only with our family for a short but wonderful five months. He was the best little boy and I would not trade the time we had with him for the world. His brain cavity just kept on filling with fluid and there was no way to stop it. My Emma girl has been stuck to my side all day to comport me. She loved the little guy too. To top this off I had to put my 19 year old cat down on Monday. This is the worst week I can think of since September 2006 when we lost our Baylor dog to lymphoma.

I did take him home on Monday before he went into the hospital to see Emma and Gage. Kahne was very happy to see them. I just wish they had more time to play.

Thank you to all the well wishers it helped us alot.

A bad day......

Unfortunately, yesterday Kahne was behaving very strange. He showed no interest in food and was acting very dull. We brought him to our local vet who recommended that he should go to a hospital. As the doctor at the hospital checked him over he started having facial ticks. They kept Kahne over night and called this morning to tell us he should go to Red Bank to see his neurologist When my husband and I arrived at the hospital to pick him up the doctor brought him into a room to go over things before we transport him on the hour drive to Red Bank. At that time Kahne had a seizure. He never had these before. They took him back and gave him medicine to raise his heart rate and release some pressure off his brain. In twenty minutes we had him loaded into our van for the trip to Red Bank. Thank god he was good on the ride there. He just laid still and did not have any more seizures. His neurologist said it could be a variety of things. He wants to keep him on supportive care until he is well enough for another MRI. It is so hard to swallow because he was doing so great.

Please say a prayer for our Kahne. He is such a good boy.

I have been taking Kahne to work with me. He is so good there. When I picked him up in the morning to go he was so excited he would not stop howling. Sounded just like a wolf with a "rah rah" at the end. Hence his nick name Rah Rah. Doesn't make a peep most of the time at work. He sleeps and just hangs out with me.

The swelling on his head went down allot! If only he would stop scratching at it. Everytime I think he is done that scratching I see him bleeding again. Wish he could only understand that is has to heal! Kahne has not improved to much yet with his motor skills. He still falls over and leans on things. But it's only been a little over two weeks and the doctor said it could take months. We all hope he will improve.

Two more weeks untill he comes home. I can not wait! Neither can his brother and sister.

Camping....

Kahne stayed overnight at our trailer for the first time! He really seemed to enjoy it. Kahne went for a couple short walks and took several naps. He is really good at taking it easy. At first he would bark whenever other dogs barked but that only lasted a few hours. After telling him no after each time he caught on and stopped. Even though Kahne's motor skills are not all there his learning capabilities never cease to amaze us. What a smart boy!!!

It was nice to cuddle the little guy all night. I miss him being home with me at night. He is a real snuggler. Kahne really seemed happy to be with his mommy and daddy again. As was I to be with him!!!

Kahne's two full days at work with mommy....

Kahne did great at work with me! The first day he had two barking fits, one because he was in his crate with pizza in the room. All dogs would have done that! His belly must have been growling, poor guy. The second time I was with a customer too long. He must have missed me! He seemed relaxed all day and had time to rest.

Today, he was soooo excited when I went over to pick him up for work. Kahne could not wait to get his harness on and get into the van and roll. When we arrived at work he strolled in like he owned the place, greeting my boss Karen on his way into my computer room. He was such a good boy today! No complaints at all. Everyone loves him at work and he will join me for a few more weeks.

Tomorrow My husband and I are going to open up our trailer for the season. We decided to stay the night and bring Kahne with us. This is Kahne's first time overnight at the trailer. I hope Emma and Gage don't find out they are missing a night at the trailer. They would be very upset.

Kahne is doing great. We modified an old leg warmer to go over his staples so he can not scratch them out again. It does seem a little more swollen today though. He will get a prednisone tomorrow with his breakfast to help bring it down. And because that drug makes him drink and pee more often I will take him to work with me. I work in a custom photo lab and have a computer room that fits his crate perfect. This way when I am working on the computer I can keep an eye on him and take him outside to do his peepee. It should be fun, it's nice having a dog at work. As long as he doesn't get to excited we should be fine. We shall see tomorrow!! Wish us luck.

Thank You to all that have made donations for Kahne!

It has been a week since Kahne had his surgery. He seems to be healing well. Tonight we had to bring him to the hospital because he scratched out one of his staples. We wish he could have an E-collar on, but the location of his staples does not allow it. They put it back in and he is fine. He is really perky today, wanting to play and cuddle.

To all the generous people that have donated money to help Kahne we can not thank you enough. It really helps!! It is so nice to know there are people out there like you.

THANKS!!!!!

Love , Kahne and his mommy & Daddy, Jean & Steve

Six days after surgery....

Kahne is doing well. We had to start him on prednisone to bring down a little swelling that started yesterday. Wow that is a weird drug. It makes him thirsty and very hungry. He doesn't leave the kitchen! Any time someone opens the fridge he is there. But all in all he is doing well. I just wish his balance would improve more. We have our fingers crossed that it will eventually, but there is a chance it will not. At least that cyst is GONE!! He is being a good boy, resting quietly as he should. His staples come out on Monday! Can't wait to get him back to the vet for a check up just to be sure everything is going as expected.

This is a link to his donation page if anyone is interested in helping us with the cost of Kane's surgery.

He is Home!

Kahne is home. He did so well and is really getting around great. It is hard to keep a 7 month old calm but we are trying. Not being around our two other dogs helps alot. But I think they miss eachother. We had to put a shirt on him to stop him from scratching the spot the pain patch was. From what the doctors said the cyst he had was rare. But they took it all out and he should be fine. I am glad the surgery is behind him. Now the healing process begins. It will take a few months before he stops falling over as much. I guess his little brain has to heal first. We just can't wait to take him camping and swimming. I was going to post a picture of his frankindog head but maybe some people would not be happy seeing it. I look at it as his badge to a normal life! Keep you posted!
