Pet-Peeves: Dogs which were not GSD had to be EXTREMELY well behaved or they would be growled at...
Favorite Toy: Not much of a toy boy.
Favorite Food: Dried pig ears. That's a treat, of course !
Favorite Walk: A walk ? Anywhere, it means to be together, fun !
Best Tricks: Walking backwards throwing his front legs straight and high in front of himself !
Arrival Story: We selected Heathcliff when he was 3 weeks and picked him up at the breeder's when he was 52 days old.
He lived over 13 years with us. From babyhood he was a philosopher, he loved the outside and enjoyed quietly looking around himself. He looked at the birds, at the grass balancing in the wind, at insects scurrying about. I think he would dreamily have looked at the squirrels and the rabbits the same way but for our Funny-Girl, who had first been his surrogate mother and expected him to chase and hunt with her. And what Funny expected, she got !
Funny died when Heathcliff was 7 years old. How he missed her ! He did not go outside by himself anymore, he always wanted to be with us, may be he feared we would disapear too... _________________________________
But very soon we brought home a warm ray of sunshine, the second he saw Pawnee-the-puppy Heathcliff was a young dog again ! And a young happy dog he remained to his last day, enjoying the outside and introducing Pawnee to all his secret special places on the land.
Heathcliff lies for ever on this land he so loved but he also will be wherever we go together with all our dogs past and present.
And we are so grateful and happy that he can also be on this superb site ! Thank you Dogster !!!!
Bio: Heathcliff was a son of the German Sieger Zamb von der Wienerau.
Truly handsome, he was the GSD of excellence, a well balanced dog combining faithfullness, complete trust in us and eagerness to please with sportsmanship (sportsdogship ?) and a happy playfulness.
He was showed, participated in Ring and Agility. He liked the former, I enjoyed the later more. Heathcliff did Agility to please me, he was so very careful not to err that we only got to the first places when the run was VERY difficult so that the very fast dogs got eliminated !!!
Well, it did happen a number of times and how happy he was to feel me so proud !!!!
Whatever the results, we always had tail wagging fun !
