1) I wish for the biggest, muddiest, dirtiest puddle ever that I can splash around in and get all dirty!

2) I wish for a endless supply of Dingo Bones that Zelda will never, ever steal from me.
3) I wish for all of my fellow pound dogs - the ones who haven't found homes - to be adopted into wonderful, loving homes like I was!
4) I wish that Mommy would scratch my belly forever and ever and ever and ever and never stop until I say it's ok...starting right now!
5) I wish people could start following my family's motto: "Don't Shop - Adopt!"

Smelly Zeldie

I have a new sister named Zelda. Mom says she is a German Shepherd Dog, but I think she's just a big pain in the butt. I like chasing her around, but when she chases me she bites my tail! What a brat!

But I secretly think she's pretty cool because I have a playmate 24/7, and you can't beat that. I get to beat her up, too, which is awesome! I can't really hurt her because she's so big, but I'm really tough.

Tiki Sneaky?

Daddy took Tika yesterday and left me home alone. When he came back at night, Tika wasn't with him. Where did she go? Is she at Grandma and Grandpa's? It was really quiet without her snoring last night, and I actually had my bed to myself. I miss Tika! Mommy must tell me where she is...

Allow Me to Explain

Have I ever told everypup about why Mommy's motto for me is, "Too smart for my own good"? I think you will enjoy it!

One day Mommy, Daddy, and Uncle Guy put up this thing called a "fence", which made it very difficult for me to get out of the yard...at first. Mommy left me outside with food, water, and a place to sleep while she went to work one day, and it was sooo awesome being able to run around outside all day! I wuffed it! And I was waiting for her when she got home.

The next day she did the same thing, but I was feeling kind of lonely when it started to rain. So I decided that I would rather be playing with my BFF, Kali, instead of running around in the wet grass. I sniffed around the fence until I found a good spot to get out, and pushed under the chainlink. It worked! The bottom gave way enough for me to head down the road toward the park.

Mommy wasn't home at this point, but I really wanted to see Kali. So I set out on my own! I trotted a 1/2 mile through the park and past the train tracks, turned left onto Champaign, waited at the stoplight for the traffic on busy Allen Road to clear, and finally crossed the street. All of those cars stopped for me, thank you very much! I passed a couple of streets until I came to Englewood, the street Kali lives on, turned left and trotted another mile to her doorstep.

Grandma Joanne laughed so hard when she got home with Kali and saw me sitting on their back porch. I ran up to Kali, playfully bit her ear and told her the journey I had made just for her! Meanwhile I didn't realize that Mommy had put up a missing dog ad online and was worried sick that she had caused me to run away. But I had a great time! I knew where I was going all along - two miles in a busy, house-filled city is soooo easy to navigate. That's what this nose is for, isn't it? Sniffing out where you want to go?

And, oh yeah, I did it again a month later when my humans went to dinner. Great Grandma Betty thinks I should be in the local paper as an entertainment story, or something about the world's smartest dog who can find his way from one house to another with so many houses and busy streets in between. Pshhh, it's nothing! I'm a dog from the streets, remember, this is old news. Woof!

C'est la vie

Thanks to all of the doggies who gave sympathetic words about dealing with my itchies (fleas)! They're all gone now and I am feeling much better. Mommy even gave me a bath a couple of days later to help my itchy skin! She gave me one today, too, because I got nice and stinky during a romp in the park.

My sister Tika and I are getting along much better now! We even play wrestle, which is kind of scary because she's really heavy when she falls on me, but it's totally fun too. I make lots of talking noises when I'm wrestling with her, just to let her know who's the boss in the situation. I AM! She still gets mad if I try to eat her food, but I'm a Corgi and we all know I can't always help my huge appetite :)

It's been a fun day filled with excitement, so I think it's time for both of us to take a nap. I'm going to sleep with my head on Mommy's shoes - it's more comfortable that way ;)

ITCHY With a Capital 'I'!

Mommy says I have fleas! I don't know what that is, but I've been very itchy lately and today she put some greasy stuff on my shoulders. She feels very bad for me and keeps telling me she's sorry she didn't catch it sooner.

It has been a rough couple of days for me. First off, a giant new dog came to stay with us and she's sooo big I'm scared of her. She tries to sniff me so I growl at her, and then when I snap my teeth she tries to pin me down. But I move faster, so I can run away. Mommy says Tica is my new sister, but I hope that isn't true? She's too scary! And I'm really jealous of sharing my parents with her...

Tica just came nose to nose with me a couple of minutes ago in the hallway. I started to bare my teeth, but Mommy said, "Leave it!" very firmly, so I let Tica finish her sniff. We both walked away without incident, but it was very hard for me. I think I'm very brave! Mommy says Tika just wants to play with me, but I don't believe it just yet.

So I have fleas and a terrifyingly big new sister. Things just aren't quite going my way right now :(

Swimming is My Favorite

Last weekend I had the adventure of a lifetime! Mom and Dad took me for a long car ride (which I did not like!) to this place called Lake Wogemaw. The first thing I did when I arrived was run down to the lake and wade right in, getting my legs and belly all wet.

The next morning, Mom and Dad let me swim around as much as I wanted, so I would run in and out of the lake and chase things that people threw for me. They took me on a boat (which I really didn't like at first, either!), and we made a trip out to a sandbar. I actually jumped off of the boat into the water, and my parents were so proud of me!!! The sandbar water was the perfect depth for me! In case you hadn't noticed, my legs are a little short... :) I had the best weekend ever in the water!

When we got back home, I was sent directly to the groomer. He scolded Mommy when she picked me up because my undercoat was so matted :O She didn't know that my love of swimming had such a bad side effect! But she knows now and I look very handsome with my clean and shiny coat.

I gotta get going, my best friend Kali is here and we're going to wrestle! Happy Labor Day!!!

Summer!

Last night I discovered something amazing. Mommy and Daddy took me outside, and when they climbed into a giant wooden box, I wanted in, too. I used all my strength to jump onto the ledge of the box (it only took 3 tries!), and when I landed something really warm and wet splashed all over my face.

HOT WATER!!!!

Mommy says this is a "hot tub". I don't like the indoor tub, but this outdoor one is great. Daddy let me swim around and lounge on his lap when my legs couldn't touch the bottom. I was just one of the gang, chillin' in the "hot tub". My favorite game was to use Mommy as a ladder to climb out of the tub, shake off on the grass, then hop up and splash back into the water. It was the coolest thing EVER!!!
