 Birthday: October 6th 1992
Likes: Being scratched and loved, Zeke

Pet-Peeves: Thunderstorms, Fireworks, Motorcycles, Zeke

Favorite Toy: Anything stuffed or a frizbee

Favorite Food: Pizza and DQ pup-cups

Favorite Walk: Across the fields

Best Tricks: If we say "get the kitty!" she herds the cats to the utility room or outside. She will also go outside and stand on the porch for a few mintues because she knows she will get a treat when she comes in.

Arrival Story: Maggie came to us from a friend who already had a dog. She was a stray that looked as though she recently had puppies. She had to have extensive medications and shots to cure her heartworms.

Bio: (Lives with my parents.) Maggie is a great dog. She loves her family SO much. The family business is located on the same land, so she goes to work every morning. Some days she stays until closing time greeting customers. Maggie shows very few signs of old age. She has trouble climbing large flights of stairs, but still tries to play on warm days like a young pup!

After a two year battle with diabetes, Maggie suffered a stroke on November 9, 2007. We had her laid to rest the following morning.
Maggie was a stray that came to us as a two year old, but stayed with us for the next 13 years. She was the best family dog and we still miss her, every day.
Rest well old girl.

I've been on this medication routine for six months now. I'm tired and getting weaker. The wet and cold spring hasn't helped. I still have good days which keeps me going. I cannot wait for actual summer weather to make my bones feel better. I have to hop up the porch staris at an angle and about once a week I do not eat my breakfast food. I know! It is very strange for me.
The winter was long, but I made it through. I'm used to my shots now and even look forward to them because the treats that follow are so much better than 'potty' bones. Christmas was pretty good. I wasn't able to tear into my presetns like I usually do. My familt opens presents late on Christmas Eve and by that time I was just exhausted!
My "kids" (Stella and Beejay) have become even more affectionate lately. I'm not sure if it's because they care or beacuse they know I don't want to get up and walk away. I really don't mind too much, except they don't sit still very well for their baths. ;-)
My spirits are good and I enjoy visitors. I know the time with my family is short, so we are all making the most of it.

I cannot wait for Christmas! Since Thanksgiving, I haven't felt so well. On Wednesday, November 16, I had a gran-mal seizure. It scared my 'mom' pretty bad. She called the family and all seemed fine the rest of the day. I hurt my hips and had trouble walking so as my 'brother' and 'dad' were putting me in the car the next day, I had another. 'Mom' rushed me in through the ER entrance. I was SO scared. Just my 'mom' was there and she was so nervous.
I had my third seizure while I was having tests. My blood sugar was sky high, over 400! The vets, nice people but not my favorite people, gave me insulin and pain medicine and sent me home. After a while I thought I was feeling better and had a fourth seizure. This time I wasn't snapping out of it. By the time my 'sister' got there, I was in my own little world. I knew she was there and had not seen her in a few days, which usually makes me excited, but she just kept saying my name. Couldn't she see me sitting there? Next thing I know, I was being loaded back in the car. This time my sister is sitting with me and my 'dad' is driving. Where are we going? 'Mom' had a bag of Burger King... that snapped me out of the petty-mal seizure for a few moments! Then I was in and out, in and out until we got to the destination. They ended up taking me to an the after hours clinic at Purdue North Central. I had to stay the night! I've never been away from home except for sleep overs at my 'sister's' house.
Friday morning my 'mom' and 'sister' picked me up... and drove me straight back to the vet clinic! After that it was home again and feeling better. 'Dad' made me a ramp off the porch since I still had trouble walking. Most of the time I needed carried back into the house after a potty break. I was at the vet twice more before Thanksgiving. (That's five vet trips in five days!)
No seizure and better everyday for a few weeks. I only had to go back to the vet to get another booster shot. It doesn't bother me so much when Zeke is with us because he acts like SUCH an idiot.
I have had two more small seizures in the last three days, but mild compared to the first round of them. The doctors are not sure what is causing them, or my newly diagnosed diabetes. I take Phenobarbital twice a day, insulin shots twice a day and Deramax once a day. (I've been on a small sose of Deramax for a year and a half.) I play in the snow as best I can ('Dad' helps me roll) and have gotten back to barking. I'm comfortable, but feeling my age lately.
Christmas is my favorite time of year! I know this will be one my family and I will never forget. We're all going to make sure it's a memorable.
