Arrival Story: _________________________________
In October of '06 we were asked to foster this sweet boy when his original family--who had had him since he was a puppy--surrendered him to IG Rescue because their situation became unstable (they had to move overseas.) It was a difficult decision for them but we're very grateful for the opportunity to get to know this crazy little guy over the last couple months.

(When he arrived, Taylor was very skittish and easily frightened. He didn't like men, and one evening when I had to work late he ran away from my husband. He was missing for THREE WEEKS, at one point even leading us on a two-hour chase, on foot, through subdivisions and fields and even a country club. Once he was returned to us, however, we really noticed a change. He made friends with my husband and seemed much more comfortable around us and more confident in general.)

Bio: ADOPTED ON 2/17!

Very chubby when he arrived, Taylor has dropped weight and is getting closer to the iggy ideal but he still has a little ways to go. He enjoys regular brisk walks and, as his weight drops, we've been delighted to see him start to play with his foster brother Monty (they play tug-a-war with Monty's infamous Squeaky Vampire. It's really something to see!)

Taylor's other "big issue" is his allergy. His back and sides were covered with ghastly scabby patches when he came to us. His original owners had taken him to the vet and the results were inconclusive though most likely a food allergy. The patches have gotten MUCH better but they haven't disappeared yet. Taylor is on a strict diet to eliminate possible allergens and he'll probably have to be on special food in the long term.

Sweet Boy is very affectionate and loves to be near his people, but he's not usually clingy. Monty and Livy want to be on or under or somehow melded to us when they sleep in the bed with Mom and Dad, but Taylor likes to curl up at the foot of the bed and keep an eye on everyone. Sometimes, though, if we're out and about in a new situation he'll hug our legs and give us pleading looks--"Why did we leave the nice warm apartment? What is this place? Gimme cuddles!"
_________________________________
Taylor loves other dogs, especially his fellow Italian Greyhounds. In his previous home he'd lived with a beautiful female Greyhound (the big kind, an ex-racer) as well as a cat and some rodents and some human children. He's mostly ignored our pet mice and we haven't had an opportunity to introduce him to any cats or many kids but he's usually pretty mellow when we have a visitor. As long as the people around him are calm and respectful Taylor is content.

Taylor has very good potty manners although he doesn't give the most obvious "I need to go out!" signals. For this and other reasons it's important for Taylor to be on a good, consistent schedule. He thrives on routine. Routine, and LOVE! I'm on my way home with the Nicest Lady Ever--she has a lot of dogs so I'll be making some great new friends. I'm so excited!
(Foster Mom and Foster Dad miss me already, though.)

I'm gonna meet a potential fur-ever mom pretty soon. Foster Mom and Foster Dad are gonna take me to the dog park and...we'll see what happens. Paws crossed, people. Paws crossed.
In more chubbling news, Foster Mom and Foster Dad adopted a puppy. I can't even tell you how disgusted I am. I mean really. A puppy. And do they let me eat her food? No. What is this world coming to?
Still no butter-soft leather collar (with studs) for me. I'm biding my time.
Taylor out.

What's up with this cold rainy weather lately? I thought this was supposed to be one of the sunnier states. Oh well. I like it 'cause it means more snuggle-time with Foster Mom and Foster Dad and the other two guys.
...of course it also means Monty is cooped up more often, so he's been having The Zoomies more than usual. But that's okay.
It's about time I got a new collar...this one's looking pretty beat up. I think a nice butter-soft leather, perhaps with studs. To make me look tough. These rhinestones are so gauche....
