Arrival Story:
Back in 1999 we decided to get a dog but since we had 5 young boys at the time we didn't want a puppy. We went to the animal shelter to see what they had for dogs and met Bonnie and fell in love with her. She was 2 at that time. Once arriving home we could quickly see that she had been mistreated as a puppy so we have been showering her with love ever since. This is her forever home and she is an awesome dog.

A beautiful poem

I just wanted to share this beautiful poem that was sent to us by our wonderful friend Shiyan and her mommy Donna.

Do Not Grieve for Me

Do not grieve for me, my friend, as I am with my kind....

My collar is a rainbow's hue, my leash a shooting star.
My boundaries are the Milky Way, where I sparkle from afar...
There are no pens or kennels here, for I am not confined-
But free to roam God's Heavens among my special kind.

I nap the day on a snowy cloud with gentle breezes rocking me.
I dream the dreams of earthlings, and how it used to be.
The trees are full of liver treats, and tennis balls abound.
Milk bones line the walking ways just waiting to be found.

There even is a ring set up, the grass all lush and green-
and everyone who gaits around becomes the Best of Breed.
For we're all winners in this place, we have no faults you see.
God passes out the ribbons, to each one- even me!

At night I sleep in Angel's arms, their wings protecting me,
and moonbeams dance about us, as stardust falls on thee.
So when your life on earth is spent and you reach Heaven's Gate,
have no fear of loneliness- for here you know I wait.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved dog Bonnie.
This morning we took Bonnie in to the vet to end her suffering and she crossed the rainbow bridge at around 11am.

We would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers and support during this difficult time. It is so appreciated.

Update from the vet

Hi everyone

After speaking with the vet late yesterday my family has decided on pallative care for me. It is end of days for me but as long as I am comfortable and not suffering that is the main thing. The vet is close by so my family can drop in any time with me so they can keep a close eye on me.
Doing any chemo or radiation isn't going to be an option for me.
As it stands, I am still eating and drinking and love going to the park. I am still a happy girl and am enjoying my last days with my family.
We don't know how long it will be but we will take each day as it comes.

Thank you to all my furends for their love, prayers and support, for the rosettes, gifts, stars, and for signing my bark box and guest book and for the lovely pawmails. Me and my family appreciate the love and support.

Love Bonnie
