Birthday: June 10th 1995 Likes: swimming, playing fetch, barking at his friends, taking long walks with his mommy or anybody with a leash. Pet-Peeves: others taking his toys, being disturbed while he is sleeping Favorite Toy: pink fuzzy purse, Favorite Food: ice cream or popcycles Favorite Walk: to the little store, down the street....he just loves to walk! Best Tricks: shaking hands, laying down, standing on hind legs, playing fetch, swimming in the pool Arrival Story: his daddy saved him from being put to sleep. Daddy went on a diving trip and the lady who was there worked for an animal shelter close by...she said she had a puppie dog who was going to be put to sleep and did he want to see him. Of course his daddy fell right in love and surprised mommy with him. He barked all the time and wouldn't eat until mommy noticed the problem. She rushed him to the vet and had 11 of his teeth pulled. Now mommy (I) have to crush up his dry food, mix with water and spoon feed him twice a day. He loves that and is taking full advantage of not even having to stand to eat. Bio: Ok....since we have had little Dante we keep finding out little tricks he can do.
l) He LOVES to play fetch. He has several favorite toys that you can say "go get your toy" or "go get your chicken" and he will go find it wherever it is and bring it to you for you to throw it. He is sooo cute running to get the toy and he brings it right back for you to throw it again.
2) He will "shake".
3) He lays and sits on command.
4) If you are drinking out of a glass, he always wants a drink too. Yes, of course from the glass.
5) The other day I was sitting with the laptop open on the coffee table...Dante was barking at the back of the computer. Finally I got up and he was barking at a cup sitting behind the computer. I asked if he was thirsty and he barked "yes". I went to get him a drink and noticed that the water bowl in the kitchen was completely empty!! He was "telling" me the water bowl was empty and he wanted a drink.
6) BTW....he has also learned to eat dry food by himself. No more feeding with a spoon!!!!!!
7) He also LOVES to swim and will hop right into the swimming pool if we are not careful.
8) He LOVES to walk too. If shoes are put on before work time he thinks HE is getting to go for a walk. He will go right out and head straight down the street!!! He loves this and it is usually hard to get him back in. Forums Motto: Mommy's Angel Now !! OMD....I am DIARY OF THE DAY.....today on my 5th Bridge Anniversary!!!!!
Mommy has not been this surprised in a long long time....I see her smiling here from the Cloud Bank. She and I are so honored.
You see..when Daddy first brought me home from the shelter lady he met while scuba diving Mommy was not happy. I looked pretty bad and all I did was stand in the doorway and bark.
When Mommy finally came over to see why I was barking...did I have a boo boo, the mange. would I bark forever...she realized I had the worst tarter in the world and couldn't eat the hard food she had put down. Once she used the food processor to make my food soft and fed me with a spoon I quit barking!!!
That's probably why the shelter lady was trying to get rid of me....I wouldn't stop baking and nobody cared to figure out why.
Most people say I was the lucky one that day that daddy (now my ex daddy) was scuba diving that day, but Mommy thinks SHE was the lucky one. I only got to live with her a couple of years (almost), but dang...those were the best years ! Thank you, Mommy. I love you and miss you too.
Wow....I can't believe tomorrow you will have been gone 5 long years. Sometimes it feels like yesterday and sometimes it seems like a million years have passed.
I miss you, Dante, sooo much. You were such a joy. I was just telling the story the other day about how you would stand in the kitchen at your full water bowl and bark for me to come give you a drink from my glass. And feeding you from a spoon...well, heck, you didn't have any teeth. It was the least I could do.
Thank you for being such a fun little doggie. I loved the way your whole body left the ground when you would bark. It was so cute. And your toys....oh my....you were a toy player. I thought my arm would fall off some days from playing fetch.
And the way you loved to go for a walk. All I had to do was look at the leash and you were hopping up and down.
Thank you thank you thank you....I love you and miss you, little buddy!!!!!!
Mommy
Once I was a lonely dog just looking for a home. I had no place to go and no one to call my own. I wandered up and down the streets, in rain, in heat and snow. I ate whatever I could find. I was always on the go. My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain. And no one stopped to give a pat. No one knew my name. I never saw a loving glance; I was always on the run. Some people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun. Then one day I heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet, And loving arms reached down to me and took me off my feet. "No one will ever hurt you." was whispered in my ear. "You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear." "You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet." I was afraid I must admit I've lived so long in fear. I can't remember when I let a human come so near. As she tended to my wounds and bathed and brushed my fur, She told me 'bout the rescue group and what it meant to her. She said, "We are a circle, a line that never ends. And in the center there is you protected by loving friends." "All around you are the ones that walk among the pounds, And those that share their home with you after you've been found." "There are many others who are searching near and far. To find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star." She said, "There is a family, that's waiting patiently, And pretty soon they'll find you, just you wait and see." "Then they will join our circle - they'll help to make it grow, So there'll be room for more like you, who have no place to go." I waited very patiently, the days they came and went. Today's the day I thought, my family will be sent. Then just when I began to think it wasn't meant to be, There were people standing there just gazing down at me. I knew them in a heartbeat; I could tell they felt it too. They said, "We have been waiting for a special dog like you." Now every night I say a prayer to all the gods that be. "Thank you for the life I live and all you've given me. But most of all protect the dogs in the pounds and on the street. And send a Rescue Person to lift them off their feet." ~ Author Unknown ~
