Arrival Story:
I rescued Memphis from our local pound when she was 4 months old. She has been a bundle of energy since she walked in the door. She has no fear of any of the bigger dogs; she just wants to play with everyone! Her favorite game is tag, using the pool as home base. She loves to retrieve the newspaper from the driveway every morning and to help bring in the mail in the evening.

Bio:
Memphis is kennel trained and house trained. She is a small Rottweiler and may not be much bigger than 50 to 55 pounds at the most. She is currently 10 months old and weighs 46 pounds. Fully vaccinated and on heartworm preventative as well as flea treatment. For more info: http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/ TN253.html Update on Memphis - 12/04: Due to some curious signs she was exhibiting, I had her x-rayed. Unfortunately, Memphis has hip dysplasia with the right side being the worst where osteoarthritis has set in. The left side is about 50%. This doesn't stop her from being adoptable; she is just a special needs dog, requiring Glycoflex to keep her joints lubricated. Memphis continues to be an active, happy pup and is still in search of her special home. Update: 03/05: It looks like Memphis will be staying with us while we continue to search for funds to help her with her hips. She is still a viable candidate for surgery, but each hip will cost $3,800. It's obvious that no one wants a dog in this condition and we are best suited to keep her as comfortable as possible and see that she has as fulfilled a life for as long as she is with us. Update - 07/05: We are trying a new treatment on Mem. She has continued with up and down days and is now 19 mo. old. Still as active as ever, her hd does not slow her down too much. Since my eldest dog is now taking adequan injections weekly, I decided to try it with Memphis. Within 5 days of the initial injection, she showed marked improvement. She almost walks completely normally. I will continue weaning her off Rimadyl as the shots progress. This gives me hope for her to have the chanc at a longer, healthier life.
