My husband and I both grew up with dogs as children but this is OUR first dog.
Sophie came to us a bit sick with severe kennel cough, parasites, and very underweight. However with a little love and great food she is healthy as can be. She has grown so much and so fast over the past few months we are a bit afraid of how big she may just get!
She loves to play with everything, get into everything, and EAT everything. She loves meeting new people, new dogs, and is facinated by children and the tv. Forums Motto: I'll eat it The Groups I'm In: *~BICHON LOVERS' CLUBHOUSE~* (BLC), Maryland Dog Owners Current Vice:: Finding and chewing dirty underwear
I went to Puppy Kindergarten yesterday - my first class! I was a bit overwhelmed at first, and hated having to just sit during the whole first class. Mommy just sat in the chair listening to the instructor talk about house breaking, chewing (sooo much fun), and basic class information. It was still fun even though I didn't get to do too much besides trade some sniffs with other puppies. I'm excited to go back and play!
Only down side to the class was I had a bit of an upset stomach. Mom was a bit embarrassed because I kept leaving smelly stinkers during the class. Mom just kept laughing and apologizing to the other moms and dads there.
Mom is hoping the class will help with training. I already know some commands like down, sit, give me paw, and come. Come is still a bit optional at this point - so Mom is hoping Kindergarten class will help.
It's been a week on Angel's Glow so far. Mom is not seeing much yet (she wasn't expecting to this early) but Dad thinks he is seeing less goobers in my eyes. We hope it works!
Well I'm sorta sad today as my bestfriend Belle, my Dad's Mom's Bichon (got that?), went back home. She is 5 years old and so much fun to play and rough house with. She had been sleeping over a few days while her family was out of town. Now my constant blitzing and play friend is gone and so I've been a bit depressed. Mom has been trying to make it up to me all day by filling my kong with peanut butter and cream cheese and whatever else she could think of... she even chased me around the backyard and let me chase her a few times... but it's just not the same.
Mom also decided to try using a product called Angel's Glow on me. It is supposed to help with tear stains. Mom and dad don't mind the tear stains too much but since I've been rubbing my face sometimes like I don't like them there they decided to see if it would help. The vet just said it was something that went along with the breed. Mom and Dad hope it works. I'll let you guys know if it works or not!
Recently they have been letting me outside in the fenced backyard (instead of the front) to play with some of my doggie friends. After noticing me sniffing the grass and chewing... mom ran over to find out what I had in my mouth and noticed piles of rabbit droppings around the back yard (sooooo yummy) and well in my mouth. After chasing me away from the piles of poop...I decided to have several blitzes...and then go inside.
Mom and dad then headed off to Home Depot and bought chicken wire. Next time I went outside there was chicken wire allllll around the deck. They seem to think this will help keep the rabbits from making a home in the backyard (and keep me from going under the dirty deck). Mom also went outside with a pooper scooper and picked up all the nice rabbit "treats". So unfair.
Anyway, I have now made it my mission that everytime I go outside in the backyard I will find any little rabbit "treat" she missed and eat it! Heh heh heh.
