Birthday: December 10th 2005 Likes: Playing with Trixie and Leon Pet-Peeves: He HATES his crate! Favorite Toy: A retrieving dummy of course Favorite Food: He's a Lab! He doesn't taste anything! Favorite Walk: Preferably in a river! Best Tricks: I'm learning to sit, stay, and how to "hold" after I fetch Arrival Story: We got Diesel from a breeder who has a long line of pointing labs... although Diesel never really pointed to anything! His father is 'HR Contender's Power Stroke Patron' or 'Diesel' for short. Since my husband is a Dodge man, we had to ensure that our puppy didn't continue the Power Stroke name. Bio: At not even two years old, our Diesel development bone cancer in his rib cage and our young hunter's condition quickly deteriorated in only a month and a half and we made the decision to ease his pain and let him play in heaven.
He was Leon's playmate and Trixie's best friend and was the most beautiful lab we've ever had and he will be missed by all. Forums Motto: If it moves...Jump on it! We had to put our Diesel down on Friday. It was a very sad day for all of us.
Trixie is not sure what to do all by herself and Leon doesn't have anyone to play with anymore. My husband is devastated, but we all know this was the right thing to do. He wasn't even two years old, but he was in a lot of pain...he was a trooper until the end.
Diesel is not feeling very good these days. His tumor is growing very rapidly and we've decided to take him in tomorrow so he can move onto the place where angels play...
He's been Trixie's constant companion for the last two years and I'm sure she will miss even his little brother antics....Leon and Diesel have grown up together since they were just 8 weeks old....and even though Diesel was 20 pounds and Leon was only 1 pound, they loved to play together and we can thank Diesel for teaching Leon to stand up for himself. Even the people at doggy daycare are amazed at how hard Leon plays with the other dogs...
Because of the size difference between the two, we have to supervise Leon and Diesel's play dates, but I think we can arrange an extra long one tonight...
We just discovered that our goofy Diesel has bone cancer and it seems to be pretty aggressive. Even though he is young and the local university would like to give him experimental therapy, we have decided to let him go.
Even though he isn't my favorite dog...at 85 pounds he's too big for puppy play... he jumps too much on people...he attacks my feet when I'm wearing my sheepskin slippers...he refuses to investigate a vast field full of disgusting doggy delights, preferring to stick next to his daddy instead....he might have been too much of a softy to be a real good gun dog....
But he is part of our family and he will be missed.
We hope he is taken swiftly with minimal discomfort and soon rests in the arms of the angels...
