I've discovered the joys of toys!!!!!! Ohmygosh I love them. It took me awhile, being a puppy mill rescue and all - I didn't really see the point in them. Sure, they squeak, but that scared me. The stuffed hedgehog kinda growls - that really scared me.
But then I discovered something amazing...
If I pounce on a toy and act like I love it more than ANYTHING in the world, Auggie will try and take it from me. And I think we all know what happens then - CHASE!!!!!! I love to run and chase Auggie 'cuz as soon as I touch her, she turns and chases me and the Shiba 500 is SO ON!
I love to run, I love to chase, I love to pounce and roll and almost run into the fence.

My friend Finnegan tagged me!
Here are the rules:
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
So here are 7 fun facts about me - Phog Allen!
My sister Auggie picked me to come home with her when I was in foster care. The sweet people at Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue rescued me from a puppy mill.
I love cheese! white cheese, yellow cheese, soft cheese, any cheese.
I'm named after the famous basketball player/coach of the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
My favorite spot in the whole wide world is smack dab in the middle of the backyard. I can see all the action inside and attack Auggie when she runs by.
My lady's mom calls me "smog" and my lady's 4 year old niece calls me "foxy".
I love Auggie more than cheese and being outside.
Doggie daycare has taught me how to be a more confident pup. I love my pals at daycare.
Now I tag the next 7 pups!
Apollo
Kitai
Strawberry
Raskol
Tetsuya
Bella Beans
George Underwood

after realizing how many pups like me need rescued, my lady decided to volunteer at Wayside Waifs.
She has been torn on spending time helping out when the drive to WW is about an hour and a half round trip. To make the trip worthwhile and spend quality time volunteering for only a couple of hours, it would take a significant amount of time away from us and from the mister - and heck, they are still newly married. But then, a great opportunity presented itself - the lady could be a foster lady. She is so excited. Pups under the age of 2 months aren't allowed on the adoption floor - they need to be fostered until they are old enough to be in the population.
So she put in the paper work and is awaiting a call to come out and see our Doggie Paradise. She could still spend time with us and help out at the same time. I love other doggies so much - I came from a puppy mill and perviously always had my litter and now Auggie with me.
I hope we can help out with other pups like Midwest Shiba Rescue helped me out.

So, turns out I'm braver than Auggie. Or at least I was this weekend. It had been a rough week with the carpets being cleaned and all...but then on Friday, Mister was home all day long. I let him feed me and take me outside. I was a little scared, but nothing I couldn't survive.
And then the doorbell rang. I went and hid while Auggie went bonkers. Lotsa noise and then the Mister let us upstairs. New furniture had arrived. It smelled like our bully rings. Auggie went super bonkers - her diary spells it out in four parts. She is such a drama queen.
Anyway, the lady came home and had an evening full of dealing with the Queen, while I jumped up on the new ottoman and took a nap. I like naps.

Yeah, thanks for being here. So today I played it cool at Daycare today. No fear, no threats of escape, I just showed up and kept to myself. That's right. No adversity here. Oh, don't bother asking Auggie what we did today. She'll say the same thing. maybe. darn loudmouth braggert.

Uh, hi. Thanks for checking in on me. I have to say, I've really been making myself at home...at home. It was a big weekend for me. Saturday I learned to "sit". Turns out I've been doing it all my life, I just didn't know the name for it. Now that I know the name, it earns me cheese. Love the spoken word.
So, yeah. I also got a bath on Saturday. I stood quietly while my lady bathed me. Her in a bikini in winter. That is enough to scare any pup. anyway, she used this stuff called "fur butter". I'm as soft and fluffy as a new pup. I'm as smooth as, yep, butter. Once my bath was tolerated, I hung out by the fireplace and got a Kong full of frozen yogurt and kibble. So worth getting a bath.
Auggie was up next. Based on the sounds coming from the bathroom, I think Auggie's bath must be a lot different. I can report that the only blood shed was from the lady. I can also report that Mister walked in to ask her if she was having fun and some bad, bad language came back in response. After all was said and done, Auggie did smell good. The lady is currently looking online for nearby groomers. I wonder what that is all about?!
Sunday arrived and I made the biggest step yet. I jumped on the couch. You may ask why this is such a momentous occasion. I shall reveal all - the Mister was on the couch too. That's right, no more hiding in my crate or behind a piece of furniture. He was within paws reach. He didn't hurt me or yell at me. He scratched me behind the ears and called me a good boy. I sat beside a man. Me. Everyone was so proud of me. I was proud of me. Phog the Brave. I can't wait to see what the week holds. As long as it is no more baths.

Thanks for being here today. Um, I'm pretty new to Dogster, but want to give a word of "thanks" to HQ for making mine the "Diary of the Day". My sister is the mouthy one of the family, and well, let's be honest, the diva, uh, so "Thanks" for giving me this opportunity and um, hope you all enjoy being dogs, 'cause I do. Yeah...so that's it. b-bye.

I survived. I'm not sure how, but I made it. Auggie was there to protect me, but I just need to tell you what they did to me. First, they loved on me. Geez. Hugs, kisses, loving words, there was no end to the affection. Then, they made me play. I was forced into a room of small pups like me that wanted to wrestle and play tag and fetch. Oh, the horror. Just remembering makes me shake.
Lunchtime came next. I got my own crate and a bowl of food from home. I ate it all just to keep up my strength in case my chance for escape presented itself. A nap came next. A growing boy needs his beauty rest, but I slept with one eye half-open. Ok, that's a lie, I zonked, but I'm a light sleeper. Ok, that's another lie, I snored.
Then my evil playground teacher made me dress up and take pictures. They kept talking about how cute I am. Man, get over it. I'm freakin' adorable, I get it. Even in the midst of dress up, playtime never ceased. I had pups on the left, pups on the right, Auggie chewing on my hind leg, teachers loving on me. WHERE WAS MY LADY?! I couldn't take it much longer.
Then that blessed moment - I heard my name on the squack-box. I was famous - oops, that just meant the lady was ready to get me. More love, more hugs. I just don't know if I could survive another day at Doggie Daycare. Wait, that's a lie. I'm pretty excited to go again.

has it really been only two weeks since I came home? I have my own soft bed, toys and food, food and food. I love food. Sometimes, when Auggie is eating, I will take food out of her mouth. I love food. And I think I love Auggie lots too.
I'm still trying to find my voice. Until then, I'm going to go eat.
