A message of hope from Badger's mom. www.WhereIsBlue.com

Christmas time is full of heart tugging stories; I have been witness to several while working as a volunteer at my local animal shelter.

I learned of a kitten who was making its way to his new home, moving from Alaska to Maryland. When the family stopped for gas in a suburb of Omaha, the kitten got out of the car. The family looked for awhile, but had to keep moving. I don’t remember if it were days or weeks later, but the kitten showed up at the shelter, well fed and very well cared for. The assessment team checked for a microchip and lo and behold, there was information in the system. The alternate contact was reached in Arizona who put the shelter in touch with the family’s new contact information in Maryland. The kitten flew on a plane within days and was reunited with her family – and was home for the holidays.

Another story I was told was about a dog. A trusted companion of a man in California one day went missing. The man was heartbroken and looked and looked for his dog. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months and months to years. He believed that his dog was stolen, but couldn’t be sure. He thought of his friend often and wondered if he was alive, if he was warm and loved and happy. Half way across the country a German Sheppard found its way to our shelter. He was scanned for a microchip and the owner was called. Imagine the man’s surprise when after 3 long years is dog was found all the way in Nebraska. The man caught the first flight he could find to reunite himself with his dog, he rented a car and they both drove home.

These stories make me happy, they make me cry tears of joy and fill my heart with hope.

These stories make me ask, where is Blue? These stories give me hope that Blue may someday be found. It may be miles away; it may be years from now. My prayer is that Blue will one day find his way back home. www.WhereIsBlue.com.

We've been AWOL!!! I'm sorry, it's all mom's fault!

My mom has been keeping me from my pals at dogster and its been awful. There is no excuse for it although she keeps trying to make them... 15 hour work days, including weekends have made her cranky, Taysia Blue has had some issues that require a lot of attention and time. She sometimes comes home at bedtime, has a quick dinner and then off to bed to do it again the next day.

She thinks that she's over the hurdle at work (for now anyway), she hired someone to help finally... Taysia Blue is starting to stabalize a bit more... so she's promosed to allow me dogster time at least once a week.

I feel like its been months since I've talked to some of you or spent anytime on here... I miss you all so much. Mom misses your humom & hudads too.

She says that she'll try to find a better balance.

Many apologies and husky kisses!!!

Badger along with Jambalaya, Taysia Blue and humom Jackie

May 8th - a sad day to remember

May 5th 2008 10:24 am

This is a very solemn week.

I was hoping and praying that Thursday (May 8, 2008) would come and go and not be noticed…. That I would not feel sadness creep in to my heart as I remember my friend Blue went missing a year ago on this date. I was hoping and praying that Blue would have already been found and that this date wouldn't mean a darn thing.

Instead the calendar marks this date and a big gloomy cloud hangs over my pack.

I do still believe that Blue is alive and I do still hold out hope that he will be found.

I wish with all my heart that this date didn't mean a thing...

Blue - I know you're out there. Can you feel all of us thinking of you??? We love you and want you to come home! Please Blue... come home!

I was tagged by one of my favorite pups – the beautiful and admirable Kiara!!!
Mom even keeps her and her brother Bodie’s picture up on the fridge!!!

This is a special Valentine’s Day addition to the tag game… I am supposed to list 5 things I love and tag only 5 pals. Then send each pal a pmail or rosette.

The 5 Things That I Love:

1. Belly rubs!!! It’s a ritual every night. When it’s time to go to bed, mom has to rub my belly one last time!

2. Weekends!!! Mom and dad usually fill the weekends with the scooter, therapy, or visits to PetsMart and if we’re really lucky a trip to the dog park! I love going somewhere, anywhere with mom and dad!

3. Snow and the frigid cold. Need I say more?

4. My raw food in the morning!!! I don’t even mind that Dad hides my supplements in there!!!

Finally, the best and most important love is:

5. My dogster pals!!! Maybe one day I can really have a play date with some of you!

The 5 pals I tag are:

Suka

Letter to the editor - from Badger's mom

The good news is that this will be published in another Michigan newspaper in a week or two... I just wanted to share it with all of you. Please cross post and help keep Blue top of mind... I don't want anyone to forget to keep vigilant.

Dear Friends,

765, 766, 767…. Posters, stamps, letters, envelopes… and on and on.

My name is Jackie, I’m from Omaha, Nebraska and I’m trying to help find a dog that is missing in Michigan. I don’t know the owner personally; I’ve never met the dog. I’ve spent more money than I want to admit in my effort and have solicited donations of time, work, research and stamps from dozens of others from places like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, California, Minnesota, Maryland, Kansas. All from people I’ve never met and who don’t know the missing dog either.

I shake my head and wonder if I’ve lost my mind. Why would I do this? Why would I pour myself in to this? Why would others? And I guess the only answer I have is “why not?” I can’t make a difference in the lives of many, but maybe I can for this ONE.

I don’t know why Blue – the missing dog touched my heart so much, but it doesn’t really matter. He’s on my mind now and that’s what counts. He’s missing. He’s been sighted. He’s alive… but with the onset of winter, he’s getting hungry, he’s getting cold.

I worry… would someone mistake him for a wolf thinking him a predator? Would someone harm him? If he were hungry and found a farm with chickens, would someone shoot first without knowing how hungry and scared and lost he is?

I worry… did someone hit him, is someone feeding him, does someone know someone now has him?

Blue’s owner would like closure… she would of course want him home, safe and sound. But if he’s met his end, she would like to know so she can properly say, ‘good bye’.

I’m encouraged… I’ve heard stories after stories of dogs reunited with owners hundreds of miles and in some cases years from the time and place they went missing.

I’m encouraged because I believe he’s still alive and I believe in the best in people. I believe that you will go to Blue’s website, I believe that you will look at his picture and I believe that you will pass this along to your friends and family until we find the someone that I believe is out there who knows something, who has seen this beautiful dog named Blue.

Help me find Blue and bring him home.

The Waiting Game

January 5th 2008 8:05 am

I'm not very good at waiting - at being patient.
I've been busy over the past couple months with some of my pals from Dogster, working to get the word out on Blue - the missing Siberian Husky. If you don't know about Blue, you've probably just been born or living on a remote island without dogster! BOL... in other words, I think we've been pretty successful in our mission.

The mission was to create renewed awareness about Blue and to spread the word across Michigan - and the region! Since the big mailing campaign and the news article, the leads and e-mails have been coming in at a pretty high rate... from Washington to Florida and mostly from fur friends in Michigan.

With each e-mail, mom drops everything at work and tries to determine if the lead is close enough to Blue to persue further. Wow, there have been so many close ones - we waited and held our breath to hear and bark the good news.. but not yet. For now we wait.

I love cold weather and snow... but that makes mom nervous and sad...
We (mom and me) feel so helpless now - because all we can really do is wait and count on the good people in Michigan to do what's right and keep the leads coming... to keep vigilant.

With each e-mail and lead, our hearts skip a beat with hope and with each, "I'm sorry, it's not him" response, our hearts break just a little more.

We want so much to send a note to our pals on Dogster to tell you all that Blue has been found. Mom wants to load us all up and drive to Michigan for a reunion... but for now, we have to wait. And wait.

Please Blue... please come home... please allow yourself to be found...
Not a day passes without hope and we will wait and keep the faith.
