Our attention! He's an attention hog! :-) He also loves to play fetch, go swimming and hiking.
Favorite Toy:
The Chuck It and Chuck It Ball is his favorite. All enjoys cuz balls.
Favorite Food:
He loves the raw diet he is on. He also loves bananas and apples!
Favorite Walk:
We have a large yard that we play in every day and are surrounded by woods which he loves to explore in.
Best Tricks:
Sit, Shake, Down, Roll Over, Play Dead, Speak. Also very good with off, leave it, stay, wait.... Jake knows so many words now that we have to spell in front of him!!
Arrival Story:
This pup came to us on December 1, 2006. He was roaming the streets in our neighborhood all day and was starving. That evening we couldn't take it anymore and called him to us and gave him something to eat. He was skin and bones! The next morning he was asleep at our back door. We continued to feed him while checking for lost ads or signs. We live in a remote area and we fully believe he was dumped out - no doubt by a very cruel and heartless person. But the Lord brought him to us and that was meant to be! He weighed 20 pounds that first weekend! Two weeks later (weighing 27 pounds!!) we took him to the vet where he received a full exam along with shots and a bath. The vet told us that he was in good health except for dry skin (and dandruff). He said he was 5-6 months old and small for his age. He said he was either the runt or possibly mixed with a smaller breed. At this point we still had not named him. We tried everything but nothing fit. We finally settled on Jake.
Bio:
2.17.10 Jake is now 3 1/2 years old. He is such a good boy. He still loves to chase a ball every day. He also loves to swim and hike with us. He's so smart and is very obedient. He's still learning new tricks - his most recently being play dead - we say "bang" with a hand signal like a gun. Jake responds just as well to hand signals as to verbal commands. About a month ago Jake had his world rocked when we brought him home a baby dog brother. He's taken to the big brother role very well. I hope he will be happy having a doggie friend in his life. His little brother is named Leo. He's about 14-15 weeks old. We adopted Leo from shelter. We aren't sure of his breed but think maybe Pointer/American Bulldog and maybe Hound.
