Quick Bio:

Likes:
Trixie loves to go swimming in Rock Creek, run around with other dogs, escape from the porch, and throw her toys backwards over her head and then try to catch them

Pet-Peeves:
She hates going outside in the rain and waking up before anyone else is awake to play with her.

Favorite Toy:
She loves all of her toys. She also loves the basket where we keep her toys. She also loves socks.

Favorite Food:
She loves all people food, especially cake. She will also go snooping around for loose bills to eat. This does not make her mother very happy.

Favorite Walk:
She'll go anywhere we'll take her.

Best Tricks:
She's just so darn cute.

Arrival Story:
The story of Trixie begins on a sad note. Our lovely sweet golden retriver Wiley had to be put down due to advanced lymphoma last Spring. We decided that we would get a new dog sometime during the Summer. Then we had to spend a weekend without Wiley. We came home and no one ran up to greet us. My dad said that he was "taking a letter to the mailbox" and then roamed aimlessly around the neighborhood for hours because he had no one to walk. We were all so sad and lonely. We needed a dog to love and walk and play with and talk to. So we decided not to wait until the summer, and to get a new dog that very week. We found Trixie at the SPCA. She had been found on the corner of New York Ave and Florida Ave in NE Washington D.C. She had spent the first 2 months of her life scrounging for food and warmth during the heart of a very nasty winter. When the SPCA found her, she had ticks. So they named her Ticksie. Somewhere along the line, her name evolved into Trixie (which is both more appealing and apropo). When my parents and brother went to pick out a dog, she was so happy and excited that they had to take her home. The SPCA dropped her off at our house on Easter, and she was the best present ever!
