Arrival Story:
I drove down to visit the breeder friend where we had gotten Melody and Shadow one early summer day. No intention of getting another Siberian Husky. We were sitting on the back deck watching the females run in the pasture and I asked about one particularly beautiful girl. Alice told me that as it happened she was looking for a home for this girl but she was quite shy and would not be an affectionate dog. About the time she finished that sentence Feather came roaring up on the deck and leaped into my lap to give me kisses. I was wearing white shorts and Feather's feet were muddy but I was so enchanted with this beautiful girl I didn't care. I left to drive home knowing that somehow that girl was going to end up as part of our little pack but I knew I had a job convincing my husband who felt three dogs were quite enough. It took a great deal of persuasion and dragging him down to Alice's to meet Feather but he finally relented. Unfortunately once home Feather retreated behind any handy large piece of furniture whenever my husband was in the room. This did not help endear her to him but she did stay and today, while she is aloof with men she will come to Michael for chest scratches which she loves. In fact, being the "Queen" she insists Michael give her chest scratches even if she has to wake him up.

Bio:
Feather was partially debarked when she was young because apparently she was particularly loud and Alice planned to show her. Feather has a very distinct "woo-woo" and uses it most effectively to get what she wants. If we do not let her in the house fast enough to suit her she marches down the hall lecturing us in outraged tones. No doubt about it, she is the "Queen." Feather died the morning of April 29th, just a little over two months after her 14th birthday. She still looked like a young Siberian. I will miss her presence -- she was my "grey ghost" -- always there but mostly silent except when she wanted something. Then she would woo and stamp her little feet. She was "my girl," always near when I was at home. Now she is with Shadow, Melody, Tasha, and Magnum. Mishka and Sashka, who she never knew, I'm sure were there too to welcome her north of the Rainbow Bridge. Feather has earned her silver harness and runs with the celestial team.
