Leave a bone for Omega

Nicknames: Baby, Meg, Mega, O'Meggie

Quick Bio:
Likes: Playing fetch with her tennis ball and any scraps of grilled chicken and steak she can get her hands (paws) on

Pet-Peeves: She still cannot manage to understand the concept of a flashlight. She will literally chase one for hours on end. Cats and squirrels are a close second.

Favorite Toy: Tennis ball

Favorite Food: Prime Rib - only on special occasions (B-days, holidays, etc.). On a normal day, she eats her Nutro.

Favorite Walk: Anywhere (she loves to run)

Best Tricks: She will let a steak, piece of chicken, Doritos (whatever) sit on her paws as she's lying down until she is given the signal to eat it. She has a ton of others, but this is most impressive I think.

Arrival Story: When I was in DC, I rented a house after leaving a high-rise apartment, so I thought I would get a dog since I now had a yard. I always wanted a big dog like a Rotty since my parents would only let us have little ones growing up. I went to the Human Society and found Omega who was on "Death Row" (about to be euthanized) due to the fact that that she had been at the shelter for over a month - dogs that have been there the longest were the first to be put to sleep. I immediately put in an application to "freeze" her appointment with the Grim Reeper and was fortunate enough to take her home a few days later.

Bio: There was not much on Omega's background when I adopted her. As you can see, she is a "long-haired" Rotty. I never heard of one before and thought she was mixed until my vet explained that she was really purebred and that she had the thick coat due to a breeding abnormality (a recessive gene). You do not see many of these types around because (sadly) breeders will put them to sleep since they technically cannot be registered with the AKC.
She allegedly came from a family with 2 young children and was given up because the father did not have time to care for her because he was working two jobs. When I took her home I immediately realized I had adopted the BEST dog in the world. She loves people (including little kids, especially), was fully trained, house-broken, etc. Still cannot believe who would have given this dog up. Really mindblowing! I'm not saying this either just because I'm her dad - everyone who comes in contact with her says the same thing.
