Arrival Story:
KULI, purebred escaped first day home, got pregnant with a 1/2 Border Collie; 1/2 most likely coyote as she was as wild as they and was seen with them, but uncatchable. Kali was the last of 6 pups. Had to help whelped out the litter as Kuli didn't remove sacks...one pup was nearly dead, but was saved. I kissed Kali, the last one, on her nose with a "whew, glad that's over". When her eyes opened, Kali would leave her dam and crawl to the edge of the box and whine for me to pick her up. How could I refuse? How could I not keep that pup? So she is now 3 yrs old and a real challenge to keep her occupied. Go, go, go Kali! She should be called the go-go girl! Luckily, I have a new purebred male KOJO and Kali has agreed to be his relunctant "auntie". She does a good job most of the time, but gets a bit jealous and acts out a good part of the time, too.

Bio:
Kali loves the local dog parks where she can "herd" the other dogs, race with RACER, an Italian greyhound. She quickly learned she could not turn as fast as he. So she anticipates his turn before he moves and cuts him off! Smart, easy to teach. She quickly got the idea of the tire jump, standard jump, but Kali really prefers just being free to do as she pleases. She is protective of me, she "house watches" for "enemies", and patrols "her" yard regularly. All in all, Kali is a bit of a challenge. We do believe that she is one of the rare coyote crosses we see here on the mesa. Most dogs are killed, but her mother, a Shiba Inu- Kuli, did run the over 300 acre coyote habitat during her 3 months of freedom. The 3 black/whites pups in the litter are most likely a half Border Collie's sons. All in all though, Kali is a sweet dog, but prefers only my human company, tolerates the rest with a shrug.
