She caught on right away to her name, and she mastered "sit" 'cause she knew it meant getting treats, most of the time! Also dancing on her hind legs
Arrival Story:
I'd been thinking about getting a female Maltese for about a year or so, but I thought I'd have to wait. I went to the pet store where I got Harpo (I was lucky, no matter what people say; he's PERFECT!). I trust in the vets who check out their puppies, and they've become Harpo and Mimi's vets. I first saw all male Maltese, and while they were cute, I wanted a GIRL! I saw her 10 days before Christmas, and I knew I was going to bring her home. I was very anxious about how her big brother would handle it, since he's used to being any "only child." So far, he's been better than I thought, but he's still very wary ... and a little jealous and a little 'depressed'. I still lavish attention on him and always will ... he's my "first love"!
Bio:
A friend asked me if she was named after Patti LaBelle and Mariah Carey ("Mimi"), but no ... LOL! I had thought long and hard about a name for a female pup, and I settled on Mimi, long before I even met her. I wanted a second name to go with it -- knowing I'd dress her up and she'd HAVE to be a diva! I thought about both "Starlet" and "LaBelle", and decided on the latter, because it means "(the) beautiful" in French, and that went along perfectly with Mimi! The joke's on me, though ... She's very sweet most of the time, but she's really feisty and quite the tomboy ... Lately I feel like I should've named her "Rocky" ... LOL!

I don't know what that word means, but ... Mommy was moving all around the house, cleaning, moving things ... and she put this spiky, green thing up that had twinkly lights on it. Then she put these boxes and bags under it, with all pretty colored paper. She kept saying somebody named 'Santa Paws' was coming -- and after a while, she showed me some stuff that she said was for me: a pink plastic "Princess" Nylabone, some Healthy Edible Treats, a new sweater from Grandma, and some new toys! Whatever 'Christmas' means, I think I like it! :-)

Mommy was really excited on Sunday, August 19th, because I turned one year old. She said it was a really special day, but to me it was just Sunday ... and it meant she put me in a dress, and I don't LIKE that! She tried to make me have some kind of photo session, and I didn't feel like posing for pictures. She put me on the couch with my birthday gift bag, some decorations, my new little stuffed toy that she calls "Bunny" and her beanie baby that looks like ME (HEY, wait a minute ... weird!!! She won't let me play with her, though!) . The next Saturday, my brother, Harpo, and I had a birthday party with our other toy dog friends. (Harpo's birthday was on August 29, and now he's three.) It was a tropical "Lu-howl Barkday Pawty", so Mommy put this grass skirt thing on me ... and it even had something called a bikini top that made Mommy laugh because it was 'padded', she said. There was a matching flower lei, and Mommy was just so happy that I didn't try to eat or destroy it ... WHATEVER! I did like the doggie birthday cake , though ... Yummy! :-) I got to have some more on Harpo's birthday, so that was a BONE-us ... LOL!

Today, Mama took me and my brother, Harpo, to the groomer (yuck!). Of course, I put up my usual struggle ... but the human was successful at putting a pink and green bow in my hair! (I thought I was done with that nonsense when Mama told them the last time to give me something called a "puppy cut".) I tried rubbing my head on the floor to get the darned thing out, but Mama kept saying, "No! ... No! ... No! You look so cute!"
I wore myself out so much, I had to get on the futon and take a nap (yawn) ...
